600w or 1000w ?

I was gonna use a 600w hps for my coset grow i have a 3.5' x 6.5' growing area (have more but will be used for clones etc.) I want to grow at least 15 plants in that area if i use a 1000w instead of 600w will i get a bigger yield based on the same amount of 15 plants? THX!

ya but u gotta think of heat issues cuz 1000 is very hot 600 isnt as bad as hot plus yeild can be alot better with 1000 instead of 600 mate

u'll def get a much bigger yield with the 1000 but like ^^ he said heat will be an issue. if u could get a decent vent system - or pay a lil extra and get it air cooled - and ran co2 (cuz co2 works best at higher temps) in ur closet ud have the shizznit

So in that kind of area would it be worth dealing with the heat issues (note its a closet grow in my house im single so i can open the door add more fans turn on a/c etc.) Will the yield be a lot more or just a little?

What do you think? I have seens ya floating round other threads regarding lighting, or someone using same avatar as you.

1000w throws some heat, much more then a 600w, but both can run hot. If you have it ventilated well, I'd go with the 1000w, as it can adequately light a 4' x 4' with about 7500 lumen per sq ft.

As to the yield, I'd say yeah, go with 1kw

prob twice as much yield with 1000w, but your gonna need to pipe the air out directly from the hood of the light. i dont think just opening the door will cut it

yeh look at lumens. my 600 superhps bulb puts out 95,000 lumens. dont know off my head what a 1000watter puts out but its something like 150,000 more or less

I asked before i saw your answer bro. Thx so cool basically same footage grow room, same soil, same everything but 1 room is 600w and the other is 1000w and both veg say 4 weeks and flower 8 weeks the 1000w will have A LOT more?

nice my 430 give out 81.000 lumens all i need for a 4x3 and 7ft tall does my job good

yay!!! yall answerd my qquestion i jsut got a 1k hps and 1k mh but both have cool tubes on them with fans suvking out the hot air so you think ill be ok and co2 30% more yeild is what im gathering?

yes. i would think the same proportion more as the the proportion of watts. yaddidamean? if everything in the two grow rooms were exactly the same except one was a 600 and the other was a 1000, theyd get the same amount of grams/watt ratio. lets say .75 grams per watt. so the 600w room would yield 450 grams. the room with the 1000w would yield 750 grams. ya dig?

Exactly. And the 1kw will be more energy efficient then the 600w. The concern is heat. I would love to use a 1kw in my 4.5' x 5' closet, but the heat issues keep me from doing so. I am in deep south. Attics get hot here.

damn sounds wonderful. how much did the 1000 cool tubed run ya? and yeah, if u added co2 it would for sure add at least 30% to ur yield, my homie believes itll double yields. u gotta make sure u keep the closet sealed so the co2 doesnt leak out tho

thats for dam sure and the south hasnt caught onto the idea of basments yet

absoluty the 1000 watt light will definatly increase ur yeaild substantilly but like they said heat will be a huge issue i dont recommend running a 1000 watter in any closet but if u get a cool tube fixture that will help alot but only if u can draw air from the outside and exahust it back to the outside and u may still need to use an air conditioner if i were u and were planing to use a 1000 watter just grow in an extra bedroom whats the diffrence from a closet or a bedroom ur still looking at the same troble if caught now keep in mind most 1000 watt light are 220 volt so 600 watts is more ideal for closet grows but if u can go 1000 and grow in a bedroom or something u will yeaild alot more i all ways say if ur gonna grow atleast make it worth ur while.

Nice nice ill definitly need to get the 1000w then! ill make sure its got an air cooled reflector hood. now as ive been doing all this research im still curious how loud all this equipment will be? its in my master closet so my bed is on the other side of the wall will it be quiet if i buy all the good equipment?

well, just think even if its all noisy aand shit, it'll only be noisy for 12 hours a day once ur done vegging.

Nevermind its gonna be a 600w i didnt know 1000w ran off 220v 600w it is then and it cant be noisy (entire grow room that is) so with a vortex exhaust fan and carbon filter, 2 small fans, a quite ballast , you think it will be loud enough to hear through my wall?

well like he said as long as u have it on from 7 am to 7 pm it wont effect u while u sleep but when ur running 24 -7 for veg it shouldnt be too loud ur talkin 2-3 fans and ur ballest witch anit loud realy is only a little humming noise. i mean were talkin as loud as a tv thats on pretty low volume. basicly if ur in the room ur gonna hear it but if ur not in the room u wont hear it u know.

Cool thats all i need to know i watch on youtube people showing their rooms and as soon as they get close its loud as fuck but im sure it has to do with the audio pick up on the mics huh? and now another question gonna get a 250cfm vortex exhaust fan with a carbon filter will that keep all smells from exiting my closet?
