I will be starting a new grow with 600w metal halide, hps light with 5 feminized master kush seeds. I was wondering how long would be a good time to veg the plants before switching to flower. I want to get a decent amount of bud from this grow.

I too am growing some Master Kush. They have been 'popped' for about 3 weeks now. Just topped 4 of the 20+ in my grow room. Will undoubtably top the rest when they are ready.

As far as when to throw them under 12/12 for flower, thats kind of set up dependant. How much head room do you have? How much lighting is going to be available?

You can veg as long as you want to, the plants will just keep growing. I always assume that the plants will double in size at least under 12/12, so I plan accordingly. I have an 8ft. x 8 ft. flower room with a height limit of around 6 ft., per plant ( 8 ft. ceiling minus lighting) with (4) 400 watt lamps, in soil (5 gal ). so I usually let my babies go until around 18 inches befor I flip them to 12/12.

I'm not too sure about the caracteristics of Master Kush, so I am skimming through other peoples grow journals to find a little info on the strain, but from what I've read so far, topping, fimming, training, is the way to go to maximize your yeild with them.

good luck on your grow

send them back and get something else if they are from dutch passion. i havent made it to flower yet and they have all kind of issues. I have 4 that have a weird brown spot on the stem by the bottom and where the stem has the spot is super skinny. The other is super yellow like it is N def. But they are all on the same nutes. also running sweet deep grapefruit in the same and having no issues. you guys in soil or hydro?

That might not be the issue of dutch passion. Having all plants on the same nutrient regimen does not guarantee homogenity. Even within a strain individual plants may show different nute/environment requirements. The only issue I found with the dutch passion Master Kush is that it hermied both times I grew it, the second time towards the end, which is not so unusual nor detrimental. Otherwise I found it to be a great smoke with rich taste and characteristic high - I am looking forward to growing it again.

As for how long to veg, you will have to make an educated guess based on all variables and adjust it according to your previous/future experience within your garden.

I got mine from Nirvana. I think i will top all 5 of mine as well. I am growing under a 600w MH/HPS light and in a 4'x4'x6.5' tent so I dont have too much head space, so I think I'll throw them into flower around 16". And they're in 5 gallon smart pots. I just finished my AK48 from Nirvana but had my ballast go bad halfway through, so I didnt get the yield I wanted, but I made some damn good brownies with some of the bud :). I am hoping with the new Quantum ballast I ordered that this grow will be much better. I am excited to get this thing going, I am also going to take some clones and throw them into flowering as well to maximize my yield this time around.
