600w HPS complete system for $100

My buddy is trying to get rid of his 600w HPS system. Includes external ballast, bulb, reflector, etc. He said he tried growing awhile back but it didn't work out. He said he paid $200 for it, and that it's barely used and works great.

Should I get it? Considering I can get a warrantied 400w HPS system for $115 (with shipping) from HTGSupply. The 600w HPS doesn't come with warranty (obviously).

That being said, what do you think? Currently I only have two 150w HPS lamps. Is 600w taking it to the next level? Will I notice a pulsing burst of growth?

How many plants do you plan on growing? and how big is your grow space? You might just be better off buying the 400w that way if something happens there is a warranty!!!!!!

Grab it!! If its quality equipment, there aint much that can go wrong with it. ballasts rarely fail unless for old age. The only part that will probably fail is the bulb. I kinda wish that the lights I bought were 600w, but for the deal I got, I just bought alot of 'em. There were some 1000w HPS avail, so I got a few of them, too. 600w seems just about right for a room, or lg closet if you have enough cieling room, or you top them so they dont get any taller than about 5 0r 6 ft.

i am covering a space 7 x 7 with 2 400w lights (1 MH, 1 HPS) and there is enough light that 4 rather large plants seem to be thriving.
