GroZone looks pretty damn good for that price. Can't go wrong with a device that simple. But yeah, CAP does do that stuff a lot now, they have a new factory in Perris of all places, not far from my old house. I never lived in that shit hole though, haha.

yeap saw it tonight, CAP makes one too. just me being ignorant i guess. really cool that they will custom wire stuff.

going into week 10. seeing plenty of amber trichs now. buds looking very nice. pics tomorrow. it's flush time. we'll crop it somewhere between 10 - 11 weeks.

flushed the cabinet res out, refilled with half tap half RO. left a gallon or two of sauce in there as well.
add 130ml final phase

seeing more fliers in the netpots again. fungus gnats. easy to ID now that I know them. i had been experimenting with leaving 2 pots uncovered.
"Analysis, Phenob?"
"Cover the net pots and we will not have fungus gnats."
"Very well. Carry on."

ph 6.0, 0400ppm
humidity has been 40-55%

Lol I still haven't flowered my BD's, they are so fucking huge. I have to transplant if I want to flower, and lollipop the hell out of them just so they won't turn to shit under a 600w. Both of them are going under 1 600w lamp. If things get sketchy, I will borrow a 1000w lamp through my new hook up.

i can encourage you at least with this .. blue dream is pretty heat tolerant. when i grew bd with og in the same res, the og had major heat issues while the bd at the same altitude just trucked on through it. have heard similar from other blue dream growers.

lots of research the last couple days. i guess common consensus is 10 weeks is long for BD. funny, last grow went 10 and sure seemed like it should have gone another week or two. not so much this time, this looks ready to crop within the next week or so. watching the tops carefully, i may harvest at 9.5 weeks or so if it looks right. 5 days minimum flush is what im keeping in mind.

Bunch of blurry pics from my shitty camera phone. this can go as soon as im satisfied with the flush.

those bigger colas are huge, probably 3 or 4lbs each wet. the one in the back could swallow a baseball.

Well kids, this one's a bust. Harvest complete. We'll get maybe 4 - 6oz, mostly from 3 stalks. Only one plant in the scrog produced with power, and man did it! Fucking huge colas, both of the big ones were on one plant! Most all the others were all completely scruff.

Oh, and did I mention that I think they were all hermies? They are, each and every one, completely full of tiny seeds. Big bom bom ba bom. Huge ass cola of shame!
Pics later today. Going to get some sleep and sort this out.

Also found a shitload of root rot. Really nasty.

No bugs other than a bunch of black fungus gnat fliers that I already knew about. No mystery bugs. No root aphids.

Also the scent was off. Kinda knew it the whole grow, should have paid more attention. They smell more vegetation than that killer blue dream aroma.

Best stalk came in at well over 500g, off the scale. will give totals in once things have dried out a bit.

Maybe I'm wrong about the hermie, but man .. all 4 plants riddled with wacky looking tiny, immaturish seeds. top to bottom. and i haven't seen a male plant in 15 years.

Uh oh? So should I trash my BD? I don't want hermies. It could have been from all the stress but the idea of seeds in my garden scares the shit out of me. That is why my Grape Krush only got one round, I'm going to do another new one from seed to lose the hermie qualities.

Maybe the 1"x1" scrog is to much stress, maybe it was the small reservoir, maybe it was the "cool" tube, maybe it was AN. You can always hash all the scuff, that is what I do.

i really dont know. im in the same situation. Dont know what to think of the clones coming up next. Keep going or ditch them? The last cycle of these exact cuttings had zero problems. One interesting bit is how these buds came out popcorny and foxtailed, not at all like the batch previous which were fluffy but nicely BD bud shaped. The og kush grown in that same cycle came out foxtailed, with just a few of these little "seeds" in the lower scruffy parts. This BD cycle is the same effect, just much more pronounced.
to be clear though, i have not found anything that looks like male sac. these seeds though make me wonder, as they are all in little pods of three, much like a sac would be. These are all on the inside though, and the seed pod looking things are stacked upward as foxtail buds, not hanging low or freeballing in any way.

possibilities -
these clones were pollinated during veg
clones were stressed and ready to hermie from early on
the grow went weeks too long for BD and it hermied out of nothing better to do with its time.
this batch was stressed to hermie by ( heat / overcrowding / sauce condition / CO2 problem / light contamination / ... )

if indeed these are hermaphrodites, which at this point i can't confirm, then i'd probably think most about the latter two. Especially going long, and like you mention, it was far too overcrowded on this run. 1"x1" is fine, just dont use every single square! Many people growing BD chop as early at 50-55 days. trichs on chop here at day 70 were about 30% amber, right about where you'd figure would be good. these seed things are tiny and very undeveloped, so they are relatively recent. i dunno . . brainstorming.

i am also going to remove overdrive from the sauce for the SFV and the next cabinet round. other new sauce components this round were protekt, vermiT, and liquid karma. ppm was much lower this time than last too on basically the same sauce recipe.

i can go blue dream from the next clone generation of this same stock, or hindu skunk. havent found ogre yet, or a serious enough kush cutting. in the meantime, chamber is being cleaned and pondering potential modifications. no rush to get it back online as clones still need veg time.

after much reading today, i think the herminess and tiny seeds are a product of taking this plant too long. seeds take 3 weeks to mature. these being no where near mature are maybe 5 - 7 days old max. that would make about 63-65 days the time when the plant said "fuck this, im gonna screw myself." I don't think we need to sweat the clones, but i'm keeping a close eye on the two that I still have.

still undecided on another round of BD or the hindu skunk. i really don't want to walk away from BD without better results but I could go for a change.

res fixed up with a new coat of metal tape and better arrangement of air tubing. air stones much more bubbly now, but i think two need replaced. letting them bubble overnight in some simple green solution and will see tomorrow.

and hell yeah, having to suspend a cola from an overhead beam to trim it really does kick ass. need more of that.

I think I know exactly why you got hermies right there at the end. I know 2 terrible things happened in the last few weeks before harvest that you didn't know about, root rot, and balls growing. Considering all the fox tailing I would say the buds stopped growing around the time you got root rot. That root rot has been going on for at least 2 weeks, it takes a while for it to turn into sludge.

If you can't afford a chiller I know a very large reservoir would help you keep temps down, in your tent you could use larger containers, like plastic storage containers, and using 2-3x as much water you could keep temps down.

If you're looking for some serious kush genetics, The Cali Connections has Larry's OG, OGiesel, Jamaican OG, Raskal OG, and Alien OG back on the menu, and they all will blow your mind.

found some interesting re-reading on this site courtesy of heisenberg today, specifically regarding using benes in dwc. also he makes a good point about using zymes to repair root rot. don't. ever. zymes encourage and accelerate root snot for the same reason they help boost plant growth. duh. i dumped a ton of sensizyme into this grow once i found problems.

Is your 600 ballast digital? If so I would be willing to trade a digital 600w/400w digital switch ballast for yours temporarily while you give 400w a chance, I think you should for that cabinet. A 400 or 430 watt would be so appropriate for the space confinements and soooo much easier to control the heat. I think you could get your bulb closer and have much denser, healthier nugs. Some of my best work has been done with a 400w Digilux bulb from DH, I highly recommend giving it a shot.

If your ballast is magnetic but runs ridiculously cool (like a GGL ballast for example) I would be happy to trade for that too. I really don't give a shit if it's digi or mag anymore, just if it runs cool.

i love my digital lumatek 600, and it's switchable. i tried bumping down to 400w but it really doesn't make any noticeable difference. it's all about outside room temp. if it's hot in the room, the cabinet will be hot too. if the CO2 is enriched and the light kept far enough away it shouldn't be a problem.

i've gone with hindu skunk for the next round. will figure out a grow journal on it once it's time to flower. i'll flower more blue dream in the tent just to make sure it doesn't hermie. will just throw a hempy bucket in there or something quick.

in the meantime, i built a nice tea brewing bucket ala heisenberg tea. so nice to not rely on slackers at the hydro shop to make vermiT on any schedule. going to use quite a bit of it so we'll see how it does. if we can innoculate against root funk at 73-75f then we can avoid at least one chiller.

vaped some last night from this harvest. not as bad as I was thinking it would be. tastes great anyway. maybe it's my sense of smell that is off, as others that have seen this harvest say it smells way better than the last. shrug.

so i fucked up and put the new skunk clones in the cabinet a couple days ago, but forgot to set the timer to veg hours. these tiny things have been on 12/12 for 3 or 4 days now. think i can just switch to veg hours and they'll be alright, or think i've confused the shit out of them already and maybe should throw two new clones in there?
