600 watt lowryder #2 hydro grow

Well this is my first thread in the forum "indoor growing"since last winter. I posted this in the grow journal section but I've decided I'd like more input than just documenting what I was doing. (it says you're not supposed to post in peoples journals)

This is up for anyone to comment on what I'm doing right and wrong. Comment either way but I have the final word on what happens anyway so try and keep it kind bongsmilie.

I've got a 4x4x8 hydrohut, 600w digital ballast, Daystar AC reflector, one 600w MH, one 600w HPStwo 2x4' floodtables and reservoirs, a 105CFM fan exhaust to a carbon filter, and a 90CFM fan exhausting the bulb.
The nutrients I'm using so far are: G.H. grow/bloom/micro, superthrive, botanicare liquid karma, and H2O2.
& of course the last of my lowryder #2 seeds from my last grow in the spring :-|. Here are the photo's of the set-up so far:

Today is day #9, I started counting the days once 1/2 of my seeds germinated. The 12 seedlings that have popped up did so from day#2 to day#5. I also have one trifoliate seedling .
I started the grow with aspirations of just growing for seeds but since i got a trifoliate seedling I'm only going to breed it and the strongest opposite sex plant. The rest of the plants I'm going to grow for personal smoke :joint:.
Here are the most recent photos taken late night of day#7:

Let me know what ya think. :bigjoint:

looks very Nice...you goona be using CO2? how many low rider seeds do you have? your setup would be sick with 20 to 30 clones...good luck and ill be checking in....

ummm I've never used CO2 before , although I've read some on these forums about it. Do you know how much roughly would it cost to put a small co2 system in there? & Thanks for the input, I'll be keeping my eyes open for one that would work in here, after all it's only 128 cubic feet. I'm exhausting at around 95-100cfm with the back-flow from the carbon filter.

And I've got 24 seeds in there right now, 16 have split their shells and poked their heads up:) I think 4 might not germinate. I'll be breeding the trifoliate(?) seedling in another room once all the plants have been sexed.

My main concern at the moment is the low temperatures I've been getting at night. The high is around 80 and the low can get as cold as 57 in the growroom. I've got a digital "energy saver" space heater on the way that will hopefully be here early next week.

Anyone know what an average yeild might be for this kind of grow?
w/ and w/o a CO2 injector?

dont know about co2 but if ur good than u can get great yeilds,im expecting 2oz dry from one lr2

heres a pic of the main bud

soil too,i got 1.5oz dry from my first lr2 a few months ago, this is my second lr2,there fun little buggers

why is it soo cold at night? your in a hut... you should have the heat during the daytime to hold it over for the night time.... for your space..a small DIY co2 generator would work good..yeast...sugar water...thats it..and some tubing...

It's chilly at night out around here and my tent is in my shed out back ;-), I haven't gotten the heater in yet but hopefully it'll be here early next week. It's supposed to snow here next Tuesday so I hope that it comes!!:!:

And i'll hopefully get the co2 tank and regulator soon. I was asked to show more photos in my journal so here are pics of day#11: NOTICE THE CURLING!!! help

LOTS OF CURLING!!!!! Any help? pH 6.0, ec is at 330/157, 80*/57* temp. 24hours of light, 3 floods a day (1/4 of the way up the cube), 24%/36% RH.
Anyone know why they're curling soo much!? i thought i fixed the over watering problem...

why dont you just keep the lights on longer over night to keep things warm the lowriders are auto flower and they wont mind?

I've got my 600w MH on 24/7 right now, it's just that it gets pretty chilly here at night. A friend of mine has let me borrow an energysaving* space heater until mine comes, which was very kind of him. It regulates the temp in the tent so that it is always above a certain temperature. My high/low now is 84/68.
& thanks for the input on the 24hr light cycle with lowryders, I've been told that the 6 hours of dark might help more but I don't really think that it would This strain was born in very high latitudes where there isn't a constant number of hours of light per day, I think that it will benefit more from the 24 hours on too...

new photos will be up tomorrow, and hopefully new equipment too

It's day #15, here's new photos. I've been lazy and got delayed a day on installing all my new equipment. But here it is:

I'm guessing I've got about 70 days left in this grow and about 150cf in my co2 tank, so I'm releasing 2cf per day @.2cf/hr for 10hours a day. I made the co2 release for every other hour except during the dead of night when I have it off for about 5 hours because its the coldest. When it starts on again around 6 or 7am the co2 is released for 2 hours straight.

The space heater makes it so that the lowest temperature is 75*f/24*C.
I've also changed the the reservoir and cleaned out the system.
I've switched the floods to occur twice a day instead of three times a day.
It looks like I've got 16 plants in total now. They are all starting their third set of leaves. The seedlings still have slight curling of the leaves and on 3 of them there are some brown spots/patches on the interior of the leaf. I'll do some research soon to see what could be making these brown spots.
again, any suggestions?

Also, I have slightly increased the nutrients I'm adding. They are:
40ml G.H. Grow, 30ml G.H. Micro & Bloom; 30ml Liquid Karma; 30ml SuperThrive. 250ml of 3% h2o2.

I deemed day #1 as the day when 1/2 of the seeds had cracked and had taproots popping out. The first plants to come to the surface of the rokwool cubes showed themselves around days 3-6... i wasn't sure when to start counting. But i'm betting their growth has also been slow because of the cool temperatures I had in the tent the first couple of weeks.

anyway, ppm is at 360, pH is at 6.0. high/low is 89/82. I'm gonna seal the tent tomorrow so that I accurately monitor the CO2 generator. Also, I will move the carbon filter inside the tent and run air through it instead of exhausting air out through it.

Day 21 update: -cleaned system and sealed the Hydrohut.

With the sealed system I reduced the co2 output to .2 cubic feet every 3 hours. 15 minutes out of every 45 minutes the co2 regulator turns on at a rate of .2cf/hr. This should keep levels of co2 between 1500-1800ppm.

New nutrient level of 1-1-1 general hydroponics grow/boom/micro. Up until now they've had 1/4 strength nutrients, excet ast week when I went 1/2 strength with g.h. grow. What I added includes: 80ml grow/bloom/micro/liquid karma, 300ml 3% h2o2, 20ml pH down, & 40ml of Superthrive. After 1 hour of pump mixing the pH read 5.5, and the ppm 840.

16 plants remain. at least 3 males , and one confirmed female.

Here's a few photos:

An Overview:

This one has male pre-flowers:

O.K. in-line cooling job. I need to pick up two flanges so it fits better.

peace and luv

ps=~ Does anyone know how to change the title of a thread?

I found that my lowryder started to curl in hydro with ph of 6 or higher. To stop the curling lower the ph. I found that with my high ph the magnesium was locked out and led to defficientcy. I lowered the ph with aquarium buffer and it solved the prob. Try 5.7. Should stop the curling. Good luck. Your grow is somewhat similar to mine. Same rockwool brand also.

Hey man. I wrote my comment after only reading the first page. Its def the same prob i had. lower the ph. its a mag def. Mine was fixed about 2 days after changing res and lowering ph. I am positive. I have pics that show my plants with the exact same symptoms and they started around the exact same size. Mag def so lower the ph and problem solved. I've heard about epsom salts. They work but all hydro nutes have mag in them but it is only available at slightly lower ph. If you don't get it now you could end up runting a plant or 2. That should fix them. Good luck again.
