see if i can get it for 250 cash. also i have a 400 watt balast from home grown hydroponics but it is makes a loud buzzing. maybe i should just get a reflector and bulb from these guys for $35 ? After all it is my first indoor grow!!! I kinda like that you have the opition of dimmable though!

600w hids are the best for most growers. If the ballast is buzzing that could just mean its a magnetic ballast. Those are cheaper but less energy efficient.

600w's are the most efficient lumen/watt, so I recommend that. Dimmable might help electric bills, but I found a set up about 100 bucks cheaper that wasnt dimmable (still HPS/MH digital ballast), and I dont ever want to dim it in my set up. That said, early vegging I do under other lights because it's too much.. but I could also just lift the lights like 5' over them if I had to use it.

just found a better deal through my local (ish) grow shop in toronto (bustan) pretty much the same(400 watt) price minus the cool hood. But i can put my mind at ease knowing my house will not burn down with a Lumatek ballast compared to chinese made stuff!!! Plus get all my nutrients at the same time:) If anyone has anymore info speak up please:D

I use a lumatek 400w dimmable ballast and it is ultra quiet. Becareful on the bulbs you purchase as most bulbs were not designed for digital ballasts as they run at a much higher frequency than a magnetic ballast. This translates into shorter bulb life and premature catstrophic failure, but there are more and more companies making digital bulbs.

Digital equals higher cost out the front side but possibly less on the back end?
The debate is ongoing in many threads...

I was goona say dont buy that shit but you figured it out. Chinese ballasts are outright terrible and a waste of good money
