600 watt bulb with 1000 watt ballast

Anybody think that would be a problem? I accidently ran a 600 watt bulb on a 1000 watt ballast for a month and never noticed a thing. I would have thought the bulb would have blown the first day. The bulb doesn't look over heated or dis-colored either. Weird huh?

Yep weird, always heard it should never be attempted but never tried!

I'd say you are reducing the life of the bulb significantly, akin to lighting a candle in a high oxygen environment. I dont know if it could explode.
