6'' inline duct fan, 250CFM enough to vent light?

I was told its actually 160cfm by itself, 250cfm with 2. anyways, my grow room is 3X4X7 wide/length/hight in feet.
basically what I was thinking of doing is , having one fan inside my grow room , pushing air across the light and out the other end , and was hoping that would take care of exhausting the grow room , and at the same time, the air blowing across the lamp to help with that heat. heres a shitty picture i just drew in paint , lol looks like a 2 year old drew it, but i just did it real fast to show u and see if that would work lol... could possibly put another fan on the right side of the light to kinda boost the air so that it makes it all the way out.
basically what im asking is if one fan doing both the exhausting the grow room and cooling the light at the same time would work like this?

also, i watched a vid that said I should have 1 coolwhite and 1 warm white tube per fixture for veg.. should I keep it this way or have like 3 coolwhite and 1 warm, or even another way?

that fan you have could effectively exhaust almost 2 rooms the size of yours.You have the right idea with hte fan set up,mine is exactly like that and works great!

I have never tried to air cool a light so I am interested in this setup....but I am wondering if the fan is near the top of the box won't it be circulating warm air across the light, and if so how much would that really cool it down?

That's a good point. You should probably try to position the fan so it Is not intaking air from directly over your light.

As for the Coolwhite / Warmwhite question. If you have 4 cfl's then I would say 3 coolwhite / 1 warmwhite. You coolwhites are best for vegging. When you switch to flower, 12/12, then you probably want to reverse that & have 3 warmwhite / 1 coolwhite.

thats sort of true, but the air is always going to be alot cooler than the bulb itself, it wont cool it down as much as cold cold air flowing across it , but will still cool it down and will manage the heat most likely.
Its kind of like a vehicle's cooling system, the coolant running through the vehicle is still about somewhere around 180F , but its cooling something that could get up to 200+ F. So even though its still hot, its cooler than the engine would be if it had nothing.
Im guessing it should work the same way for the light basically.
Im going to have another fan pulling in cool air from outside the grow room , so that will help aswell.

yes it will certainly cool it, I was just saying you could cool it better if you were able to position the intake so that it was not sucking air from directly over the light. If you can position it to intake air from anywhere lower than the light & maybe in a corner it would cool somewhat better. But if ya can't do that then what you have drawn should do the job.

If ya get it setup, a pic would be nice, if possible. Other than that, I see you are using flourescents...they don't really get that hot do they? Is it really necessary to cool a floro?

I've read that pulling the air across the light is more efficient than pushing it... actually, that's what the directions that came with my reflector said, so it's probably fairly dependable. Any reason you can't put the fan between the reflector and the vent?

no reason , I just figured it would be more efficient the other way , since the air is being pulled directly into the fan , then being pushed out. But if ur instructions say that, then maybe its better that way.

to me , in my mind, im thinking that air right at the start being pulled directly into the fan would be better, instead of the fan being like 2 feet down the line , trying to pull air into the ducting , across the light , THEN finally reaching the fan , and being pushed out.

Dunno , just seems like it would work better in my mind, but that may not be the case.

If you are talking about on of those in line duct fans, probably not.
I'm gonna shoot from the hip here, so correct anything I'm wrong on

The fan is inexpensive
You are in a closet (or smaller in a box)
Looking for best bargain

You spent the $ on a 400W with a hood but skimping on the extra $50 on a good fan?

I'm using a S&P TD-150 on low speed through a hood and it works fine. I can keep my hand on the glass all day long. (the TD-125 should work too, but is a 4inch)

Bro, I have that same inline booster fan on my veg cab and I can just barely keep 4 42W CFL's at an acceptable 72-80 degrees with the doors closed. If you have a 400w, there's no way you're cooling it with that fan...on top of that, if you are intending on using a carbon filter, your fan is going to need enough power to overcome the negative pressure to push through the filter as and provide enough airflow to keep your temperatures at an acceptable range. I would suggest spending the money on the 6" vortex which is about $175 but from my understanding they come w/ a 5 year warranty and you will certainly have no heat issues. I've heard a lot about the s & p fans but haven't found many distributors....I could be looking in the wrong place though.

u guys are right. If im going to spend over 1000 bux on a room , I might as well throw in an extra 200 bux and get something worthwhile.
