I decided to upgrade from my 4x2x5 tent but wanted to keep the garden in the closet to make to most use of the space I have. So I will convert my entire closet space into a grow area. New size will be 2'x6.5'x8'. This will give me 13 sqft of grow space.

Will be using all LED with the HLG 320xl in the middle with a QB96 eEite v2 on either end. The QB96 will be running up to 185w each. For a combined total of 690 available watts, or 53 watts per square foot.

I'll be documenting the room build and maybe the first grow here.

Here is the closet I am working with before any changes, and this is the tent I was previously using for flower. It will be nice to get some more height, especialy since these lights need good spacing from the canopy.20190307_163635.jpg

I am thinking i might hang poly with some vertical zippers behind the bi-fold doors, this should seal up the room and remain discrete when bi-folds are closed. Unless i can figure out a way for the bifolds to seal....any ideas? Still not 100% sure what i'll do for the door in, since the area is only 2 feet deep i don't plan to actually walk in it but lean in to tend the plants, so an entrance nearly as wide as the closet opening is required.

Ok for your door get the zippers as you mentioned, then take a look on ebay for a photographers vinyl background. They are rather strong don't rip easy and the zippers can be stuck on and stitched. Use some wooden batons to frame it in and hold in place. Works 100%.or a cheap Tarpaulin

I was thinking about something like this, after a quick look at vinyl back grounds I cant see many big enough, and the ones that are bigger are way too big and a bunch of $$. I would need a single piece of at least 6.5' x 7.5'.... So far the only thing I can find that size that doesnt break the bank would be black and white poly. I think if i got the 6mil poly it should be fairly durable.

Forgot to say you wont need anymore than 30 watts per square foot in that space to be honest the amount of light your thinking of will kill your plants, unless your doing sealed room and co2. .

I know the total usable wattage is on the high side but I will almost never (if ever) run at full power. I keep a close eye on my plants and since all my LEDs are dimmable its easy to dial in the sweetspot for the plants. I adjust wattage as needed while using plants and light meter as indicators. Also with 8 feet of head room I should have the room to raise my lights as needed. I wont have any issue controlling heat with the ventilation system I have planned.

Im thinking grow tent material may be the best for my "door" Its durable and has the mylar inside. Just need to find some at a reasonable price, its not cheap but I plan for this room to be operating for quite a while and looking for a clean solution. Then I might also use the material on the floor also.

Line the whole closet with it. Then use foil tape to seal it in.then you can buy zippers that will attach to the mylar to get in and out. Basically like a tent but with no support poles. If you're venting outside you will have no chance at moisture seepage into the actual closet, or the room the closet is in. It will also help keep bugs & other shit out of the space.

I was thinking about that. I am just paranoid about moisture getting trapped between the tent material and the wall.

There wont be any bugs and shit getting in when I am done. Planning for this to be a meticulously clean grow space. It will be sealed tight with the exception of intake and exhaust.

That's why I suggested foil tape. Get 1"1/4 staples. Start at the top with a few into the studs.
Then when you have your studs lined up. Put a small piece of foil tape where your going to staple into the stud. Then cover the staples with foil tape after. You might need to cut the mylar in the corners. Another reason for foil tape.. if you line that whole room and foil tape the seams . you will be all set, no moisture will get onto the material of the closet. If you can find a roll the size of the room. Start from one side close to the door & then to the back wall and right wall. Then pull it past the door to the wall on the left a few inches. That will be the door. If you could get a roll the hight of the closet you could do it having 9 seams

Second coat of paint applied. And 2 HLG-185-54 drivers showed up for the QB96 elite v2s.

Planning to finish paint and sealing this weekend and maybe start on ventilation.
