As the title states im in my 5th grow and I always use a 600w hps in my 4x8 veg room, bubble buckets, cyco nutes, I acquired a 2 foot 4 bulb t5. Im having heat issues so im considering using the t5 for veg. Also I figured also save on electric. Anyone wanna weigh in as to how much longer it take to veg under a t5 as opposed to 600w hps, pros and cons of each please, btw I flower under a lumatek 1000w and magnum xxl hood and pull 13+ off each plant

Spectrrum alone you would do better with the T5. HPS light spectrum is better for flowering, and MH or T5s are better in veg. 2 foot 4 bulb T5 will be putting out significantly less power than the light you are currently using for veg. So I guess my answer would be no, don't use only the new T5, it will cut your growth. If you were able to pick up 4 foot 8 bulb systems, that is entirely different, I highly recommend T5s, as long as you go with a big enough system. T5s put out much less heat, so you can put them much closer to your plants, and the light source itself covers more area than other lights. I would suggest you use your new T5 light as a cloning light, it is the perfect size for that.

i'd switch the 600 for a MH for veg. start them out under T5's, move to MH and flower under HPS.

Thanks guys my 600 is a built in ballast so I cant switch it to mh, and I had the t5 on them as they rooted as a clone and they so great I just was curious how much slower they would grow under the t5, under the 600w hps they are ready for flower in 4-5 weeks normally

I have a 2' 4 bulb T5 and it does grow them nice and squat with fat leaves, but it will take about 8 weeks or longer to match the growth of your hps during veg. I have tried both ways and I although I'm not knocking the T5, the hps will get you there faster with much better growth.

100 watts of T5 < 600 watts of hps
