can i use a combination of 5500K and 2700K for vegging with decent results? I know that people state that 6500K is best, but i have went to every local department store with only finding 5500k and 2700k.

5300K-5500k is a preferred range for plants than the 6500k daylight bulbs on paper. It puts out twice the blue and the photosynthesis activity is almost twofold compared to the 6500k bulbs from what I've read insofar.

from what I understand, while having 5000 - 6500K during vegetative, it does not impact the overall smoke quality, but the rate of growing, and having a hint of red spectrum is always good. when you flower though you will want 70% frequency ranging 2700 and reds / 30% 5000-6500 K or blue light. It also induces flowering quicker because it replicates the late sun in the day as in late summer

how is this wrong mixing the some red with blue during veg and the reverse during flower, i have increase the quality of everything i have grown, hell theres even a nice thread with a write up about mixing blue and red spectrums, yess5500k put off more lumens also make twice the heat as a 6100k bulb

I think he was rolling his eyes that you demanded someone add to your reputation.

Mixing spectrums is a good idea. The ones you have should work fine.

I was wow with the +Rep too it's just WOW!

Anyways, mixing specturms does not hurt. I don't add and 27K to my veg/mother/dad area. I do however add some 65K to my flowering room. I run 6X 4foot T5HO 27K with 2X 4foot 65K T5HO for flowering with great results. I find that the little bit of 65 K in flowering helped reduce a the stretch the plants make in flowering.

As for mixing spectrum in the veg state and getting more potent, never heard that one before. I know it can affect the growth rate, but other than that I don't know.
