4oz jar suggestions?

Well right now I have 6 4oz jars 1/4pint of golden teachers and another 6 of b+. I got these jars mostly for trying to case as they colonize much faster. What would you guys recommend, should I just crumble them and make casings with 3 in each using just verm? And also, if I were casing, do I still need to have a one week consolidation period? And after my first flush, would I attempt to dunk the whole casing or just heavily mist it? Thanks for the help :D

I don't understand, why would you crumble and make casing? consolidation time is wasted time, the mycelium will "consolidate" under casing. The only thing you might ever want to worry about is exposing grain, you are better off not putting exposed grain in contact with anything untill the mycelium has had time to re-colonize. You can "dunk" cased plugs or "loafs" but in my experience it tends to invite trich. I am not sure that you might not be better off casing each of your 4 oz jars, although I have never worked with such small amounts of mycelium in order to fruit, if you can fruit in a petri dish, you can fruit in a 4 ounce jar but I still don't know why you bothered. Perhaps you only had a small pressure cooker?

No pressure cooker now, so brf it is. And, I've read that 4oz jars produce small fruits and flushed dunked & rolled, but I will try and fruit at least 4 or so just to see what works best. And if I didn't want brf to be exposed to anything, why wouldn't I consolidate in the jars to ensure the brf is all Colonized? Surely after an extra week in jars, the mycelium would be strong enough to fight off bacteria and mold. Verm is non nutritious anyway, ill sterilize the verm and use distilled water to moisten it. Sound good?

Get the pressure cooker - everyone who does this even a little bit should get a cooker. Not having a cooker is about the same as a hydroponics pot grower not having a ph meter. Mycelium is always strong enough to fight off contamination, the question is coverage, if the medium is not fully covered contamination will gain a foothold and there will at least be a draw as to which one will take over - finally however, the contamination will always win. I think I don't know what you are saying here. Perhaps you are contending that a solid puck may not have been colonized in the interior - this may be the case, which is why I really don't like solid growing media like brown rice flower mixed with vermiculite. Pure flowing grain is always the best unless, as is in your case, you don't have a pressure cooker. i will soon be producing a grow journal so you can see.
