Never done this is 40 years of growing. Never heard of it until I came here. Don't really see why it would do anything special. Not gonna do it myself. Hard enough to await harvest time. Could be a myth?
I'm sure some folks swear by it and may attack my post, but I don't care.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the hormones of the plant, when there is no light, resin production increases, Im not sure of any of this its jsut what im thinkin.

This exact thread is posted atleast once a week with varying answers. I have yet to see a real scientific or well tested answer. I would personally like to know, simply because it is asked so often.

I used to "thirst stress" my buds, which did seem to amplify the glands and also, seemed to produce a "speedier" high . . . more Daffy Duck than Elmer Fudd.

To me, it'd seem the darkness might cause the existing buds to stretch, and thus, loosen?
Heck fire!

how long did you thirst stretch for? I'm planning on harvesting this weekend so i stopped watering the plant two days ago this way it makes the drying and curing process faster.

and is there anyone who has tried 48 hours dark right b4 harvest that showed good results?

I believe I'd simply stop watering, the buds being ready to harvest, and then wait until most all of the veg growth wilted (drooped, sagged) and then removed that limp growth and harvested as usual . . . ie: removed the buds or severed the plant stalk at ground level.
it's been a while. I don't know why I quit doing it this way? Forgot? It did help the harvest dry a bit faster and didn't seem to hurt anything.
