cool ;-) is your hps bulb not a dual spectrum? Many new ones are nowadays

soil transplant to hydro? Actually that would be quite rare
I do it all the time with no problem. Just take care in washing ALL the dirt from the roots and then put it in your container and put hydrotin around it. Be careful with the roots!

Cool! Thanks. I've never done hydro before but want to experiment this time. A bubble bucket looks the easiest to make but ebb n flow seem like it has less maintenance. What do you think. I really don't wanna drive to the hydro store but I guess I have to. Blah.

I just made a bubble bucket out of a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and it worked perfect. I started harvesting last night and I got great results, i use fluros for veg and 400w hps for flower.

botanicare. I kept it real simple just the basic veg and bloom nutes and thats about it I didn't do to many suppliments. This next round I think I am going to try some different suppliments and see what difference it makes.

It was far easier than I thought it would be. I didn't change the water every week like you should and I reallly didn't spend a whole lot of time on them and they turned out really good in my opinion. Im guessing about 4 ounces off this first plant I am harvesting and the other ones look about the same.

Yep, I'd have to agree. Making the move from soil to Hydro is scary as hell, but easier than we allow ourselves to believe. I just did the move. Everything is growing fine again. It took the Girls about 2or 3 days to adjust to but now that they have they've taken off again and I'm only pushing 2 15W floro glo lamps. I'm thinking on firing up my 400W HiD, but FRAK i'm dreading dealing with that heat generation!!
Anyway make the move dude. I cant attest to the hydro thing yet since it's my first hydro grow, but fuck it "Just do it"

Ciao

It definitely worth it for the fact I don't have to be hauling soil around. But was your guys yeild better?

the yields for hydro vs soil are considerably more. now just remember that you have a few more things to look at like ph and water temps. ph should be around 5.5-6.5. and the temps should stay around 68f. any higher and you can have an issue with a slime that will devistate your garden. you also can over fert your plants. so you have to keep a close eye on that.

Now i know it sounds like a lot to look at but dont be intimidated. Its not hard once you get it right from the start.

as far as getting your plants into the hydro here is what i personally do for my plants. i take the plant from the pot and put it in luke warm water in a bucket. i then let it sit and let the soil gently fall from the root mass. after a few hours i go and check it. after it has shed the soil i put it in the hydroponic media.

Thanks. That's not too bad I watch ph now. I'm just worried about having the right nutes. I'll guess I'll it the hydro shop. Ugh.

well you can make a compost tea. its easy to make and you can stay organic. basically all you do is take your compost or soil and put it in a pillow case or similar cloth bag. you fill a bucket with warm water and place that half filled bag into the bucket with water. let it soak for a couple of days ( like 2-5 days) all the while keeping an air stone for some cirrculation. after the soaking you can administer that tea into the res as your nutes. its a cheap way of using what you pobably already have.

You can also check out my pics it's kinda walks you through the steps i went through in moving from soil to Hydroton.... Mine are recovering their root system fine with only 30W of flouro light. I put the new pics up just a minute ago just to show you that your babies will be fine after the "surgery" :blsmoke:
