400w hps and 400w halide during flowering

is it good or bad to run a 400w hps with a 400w halide during flowering or should i just use the hps during flowering im 6 weeks into flowering have lots of buds but they are not as dense or as big as i thought they should be im growing some northern lights 5 and some trainwreck

I run both, works well.

Just make sure you can keep it cool with enough ventilation.

thanks for reply yes i have good ventilation i keep the temp around 74º-76º with the lights on and it stays about 70º when the lights are off do you think it will make the buds more dense once again thanks for the info

i would use 2 hps instead. but 1 of each will only make things better. plants actually benefit from both the red and blue spectrum though. but unless i was growing an exotic sativa, i would use 2 hps instead because plants generally like the red spectrum better during flowering which is provided by the hps. a guy i know was growing with one of those dual bulbs, its like a hps and mh combo bulb. he eventually just switched to only hps because he said it gave him better results. however, i was reading a newer skunk magazine the other day, and they say certain exotic sativas(i think these types sativas were more for outdoor grows) need both spectrum to achieve best results. so if you have one of those, then i would go with both mh and hps.

Maybe get a warm spectrum bulb for your MH ballast. It will mimic you having 2 x 400 Watt HPSs somewhat.
