400 watt HPS yeild

So I'm planning on upgrading my grow room. It's 2ft wide x 2ft wide x 7ft tall and am planning on doing 1 plant in a 5 gallon bucket with soil and using a 400 watt HPS. what do you guy think a bottom line yield will be? Any help is nice.

Here's a pic of my current and 1st grow let me know what you think

You'll get more than 3-4! I have the same amount of space as you 2ft x 2ft x 6ft I'm doing a 15 gal 2 site bucket scrogged to make the most of space! Using a 400 watt hps for veg and flower! In a cool tube! I managed to get just over 4oz from 2 plants in coco in that space 1st run.. will be cool to trade info with someone else running the same set up

Depending how long veg? for yield, but the 2x2 most likely could been done with 250watt hps and gotten ya same yield.400 is little to much for 2x2

Definitely once I'm all setup and plant the seed (Hope fully the end of February). I'll message you and let you know we will definitely swap info!

You say a 400 is too much for a 2x2 I ran a 600 hps in my 2x2 without many problems
It's not just about problems it's about wasted resources 400w is almost over doing it in the 2x2 600w is just over kill should have bought a bigger tent. It's about using what you have wisely not how much i can pack in here 600w is made to produce a pound not a couple ounces in a closet

Yeah karma is right, you totally could run a millions watts in a 2x2 if you could keep it cool and from bleaching your plants, but there is no reason to. That 2x2 space you have has a maximum yield potential as you can't grow bigger than your space is. And a 250 watt ups is going to be your most efficient gpw light in that 2x2. I was running a 600 hps in one of those little 30"x18"x5' tents and the most o could get out of that tent was 14 oz. the tent just couldn't fit more bud in the canopy space. I'll throw in that i usually pull 1.8-2.2lbs off of one 600 in my 3'x5'x7' tent. You're pretty much just wasting light/electricity. And paying more to do so.

Depending on how well you take care of it you can get 10 to 16 ounces off that 400w.

Low Stress Train it, FIM the main four colas and then manipulate each of them so that a new one is higher than the last highest one every day (supercrop). Get rid of all the popcorn junk at the bottom before it turns into a sucker bud so that all the goodies flow to the top most buds. Grow it slow and cold. Lots of sea kelp. Cut out some posterboard and put it on the top of the pot so some light is reflected back up to the underside of the canopy.

There are so many things you can do to maximize yield. Just keep the temperature down and air blowing hard in that amount of space or youll be fighting bugs and powdery mildew for sure.

Also: I have a Lumatek 600w adjustable digital ballast. I ordered a 1000w and got this but thats neither here nor there. What is of import though, is that it is dimmable to 400w and 300w. You can install this ballast outside your grow area to minimize heat and dim it to 300w to maximize potential while lowering energy waste.

I average almost two ounces a week from a 1kw hps. in an 8'x8'x8' room but I keep the reflective screening in as close as practical. All with the cheap fertilizers(even MG) and the very cheapo HPS and a very minimum of CO2. I don't cheap out when buying a ballast though.

Maybe you might figure it from there.

I know that when 3kw hps or more are all tight in one grow(25 snips per one kilowatt using a 5'x5' area) the numbers(watts per gram) change drastically.
