I found these for $25.00 they are 400 watt balasts that are 120V. Should I jump on these? Will they be sufficent for flowering? Alot of the set ups I see are different, these are from a farmers pole barn.

The will probably work, and for $25 why not try. The only thing I would say is to take the socket off the ballast. The ballast with jsut generate extra heat in your grow room that is not needed. Plus you will be able to put them in a better reflector, cause those are garbage.
If they are 250 like Growman said, I would suggest using both for flower, or using a really small cab with short plants that finish about 12" tall. THey do look a little small to be 400watts, but that could just be the pic. You should be able to open the housing and see what it says on there. THen you will know for sure.
You can also get ballast kits online for fairly cheap. I got my 600watt HPS for like $100. You can get 400watt ones for like $60 I think. Check out HTG Supply. They have good prices on their ballasts, and the kits have worked great for me the past 3yrs.

it will work just like any other 400w hps ballast.

im using the same in one of my small gardens that im helping in a medicinal patient grow.

u can always pop the case off and make sure its a 400w ballast, it will say on the components inside.

they work just fine people.

Yea these are 400 watt ballasts, They can even run a 1000 watt HPS per manual. So I grabbed them and used alittle Macgyver skills too rig a remote ballast. I used an old oven hood that has a fan which is running to draw away the heat. I bought a 400 watt HPS light. All in all I spent about 75.00 for two ballast, light, wiring. Looks like the girls are loving it and the closet looks alot cleaner without all those wires. Much props to cfls though they got me this far.
*note* this thing is KICKING out so many lumens that the pics look like they are being taking from behind a blind.

thats space is to small for 400 watts good luck on not burning the place down
Uh, no... You're just trying to justify why you spent more than he did on those cfl's you're probably running. And by what you said it's clear you have never owned or used a HPS.
