Hi I have been growing for under a year and have had two good grows with a 200 w blu cfl 4 veg and then for flowering a 200w red cfl. Since i began my growing hobby ive had 2 balasts and two very powerful sodium growlux (red with blue mixed in spectrum) bulbs which i never used because theyre too hot. I grow in a converted cupboard 1meter high by1/2 a meter in depth and a meter in width. It has a toilet fan blowing air in and a normal house fan inside the grow box I have recently reared a clone and its now at two and a half weeks.

I tried to hook my growlux 400 watt (just one hanging about 70cm from my newly planted clone(its been rooted over two weeks under a blue cfl). I thought that would be cool but i went back befor and the temp was 87 with the door shut and 82 with it open. I think thats two hot...could some one clarify. Also how can i get the box cooler or is it just too small a space for the powerful grow lux sodium?Do i need to get a bud box or smthing. i really want to get my growlux sodium going so i can have better yeild an bud so anyhelp gratefully recievd

You will need to set up air handling to use it. I would build a bigger box and put intake, exhaust for the box and air cool the light seperatly. VV

You dont have a problem, ive maxed out the co2 in my room and the temp is 89.9 and my ladies are loving it

I think 82F is fine, is not optimal by the book but i'm certain they will do just fine providing you know how to take care of them. Even 87 is doable although most would say this is the time to think about Co2 injections or a better ventilation system.

Last night my grow room was at 100f dead on.

The plants seem unaffected. I have fans running around the outside of my plants creating a real nice breeze.

What strain are you growing?

you say you have a fan blowing in? but have you cut any holes in the top to let the hot are out? as you do need them? and i wood put 2 or 3 pc fans at the exts to? when them plants are still small and in veg, it will be beter if you use that 200w cfl,,,good luck

I have the same grolux bulb that you do and your right they do kick of some extra heat because of the dual spectrum.
I have mine in a cupboard and i simply leave the door open very very slightly and point the fan at the light.
I have placed one ona gel just underneath the fan so the fan blows ona fumes everywhere and i have another ona gel just near the door and a plug in air freshener in the room and this has neutralized the smell.
As long as the fan is moving the hot air away from the top of your plants you should be fine:blsmoke:
