Other than a solar array, looks like the only way around it is to ditch the HID lights for LED. Especially if you didn't take the heat of the HIDs and how much they'll raise your AC bill into account.

Wow, I feel for you, those rates are horrible. Here where I am in Canada it is a tiered system so On peak, Off peak and Mid peak. Basically when most people use hydro they jack the prices. That said out top is still .217 per kWh. Off peak runs from 7pm to 7am so at least I can flower during off peak and save a few bucks. Did you find out if they are able to raise your baseline?
- $0.105 per kWh - Off-Peak.
- $0.150 per kWh - Mid-Peak.
- $0.217 per kWh - On-Peak.

I was really surprised that I could lower the room temp by 10 degrees by dimming my 18 HLG's by about 20 %... really made a difference. We're at the end of the run, so lowering temps and light intensity is not a bad deal.

Do your electric bills show prices at different time periods? I'm lucky I guess. My price never changes. Its an electric cooperative. Its 28 bucks a month for membership but 9 cents a KWH always. They also kick back any unspent money at the end of the year so actually ends up being lower than 9 cents really. Didn't realize how lucky I was with that. Feel for a lot of you sounds rough.

Same. We are with a COOP. price is the same per KWH if you’re running at 3pm or 3 am .89 cents per KWH, and also get a check back once per year for profit distribution.

my rates apraching 40cents too.
if i would be in a sunny state i would also opt for solar.
there have to be options below 30k.
depends on what you can do yourself, but the panels are cheap these days, inverter electronics isnt a fortune either and its simple to connect to your net.

I know. Pretty cheap. Here’s my billing history. This is for a 1400 sq ft grow facility, my 1800 sq ft main residence, and power to the water well which during the summer pumps out about 16,000 gallons a day to keep the grounds looking nice and green.

IDK. that’s just the way they post the rate. But if you do the math times KWH used, it comes to that.
I'm in Australia and pay 27c per kWh.
Also have a 5kw solar panel system that I get 7c credit for each kWh pumped back into the grid, but I havnt exported any power in a long time
My power bill is around $1,000 a month running 15ish lights + 5kw split system and small house.
