Hey guys,

Looooooooooong time no post. It was back in 2008 (or '07 idk) when i started posting here and learned a hella a lot and hopefully helped some people in the process. To make a long story short I was forced to take a break from gardening but 4 years later.... its time to start again.

This time around I opted to go for a 3x3 400w grow. Got myself a DR90, lumatek 400, YM2, and a rigged up a DIY 4 site drip system (27 gal res) w/ a 2x2 tray (easily converts to ebb/flow). I am using the 3gallon air pots by superoots and am still on the fence about my medium being coco or hydrotron... I also need get some ducting, inline fan for hood, and a few oscillators for air movement. Besides that I think I have it covered. I threw up some pictures below of my work in progress, I'm shooting for a end of Jan completion and getting the first round in there by Feb 1st.

Let me know your thoughts and if have experience running a drip setup let me know what you think the best medium is.

Peace:peace:bongsmilie

Stay with Coco... hydroton works ok, but it can also be a big issue if your pump goes out...

Looking at your setup... I'd suggest a couple things from experiance...

1) the tote you bought... is the best one on the market... and dirt cheap too... (Way to go!!!)

2) it looks like your doing ebb and flow... put a peice of plywood under that tray (but on top of the rez) to move it enough to get easy access at the resivoir..., then cut a small hole in the top of the res... that way you can drop a pump in or a shopvac in to clean the water out when you want to change water/nutes otherwise when your in flowering it'll be a pain... remember a even a 3/4 full rez of water is going to be too heavy to move...

Thanks for the replies, Happy New Year RIU community.

Canibitual:
1) yep, thats why i bought it...
2) I'm doing a drip system, its just a DIY rez and a 2x2 tray and a manifold. I could convert to an ebb&flow by ditching the manifold....but that is not my plan. As far changing the rez, I was thinking of doing a "T" off the line between the pump and the manifold the going threw the lid to a valve and then a length of 1/2" to run to my drain. So I could just switch the flow from the manifold to the drain tubing to empty.

Bazaookajoe:
My plan was to veg them to ~12"-16 then flower out. The jardin is 71" high, i lose 14" to the rez, 8" the hood, 9" to the pots (3.4Gallon btw), and ~12" hood->plant gap (might be able to get it closer, still need to sort out my ventilation setup). So that leaves me with 28-30" of grow room.... so it will be tight but i think i can pull it off.

Small update on the build. I got around to purchasing 25' of Can-ducting, a Can 6" MAX-Fan, and my medium Coco Croutons. bought local for the coco and duct but waiting for a end of week delivery on the MAX.

Slowly but surely...its getting there. I last but not least is nutrient selection, if anyone has any experience running a system similar to mine (ie: drip in coco) let me know your thoughts on a nutrient line up. I am leaning towards Canna products cause of their ease of use but am open to hearing whats working for the RIU community.

I liked them as an alternative to hydrotron. The traditional coco coir is too loose and would be a mess in my system.
