Well at the moment I am using gallon jugs of frozen water till all my parts come in. I took your advice and up the O2 and also got air diffusers for my buckets. definitely a big difference. Cant wait till the 1000 gph air pump comes in.2015-12-08-16-31-19[1].png 2015-12-08-16-32-28[1].png

The difference between 4" air stones & diffusers r night & day.Your root growth @ the right temp will bring explosive root mass

Dissolved Oxygen is key in RDWC,mass aeriation in your Res & buckets.& keep your Nute solution around 64-66 degress & you won't get root rot,Oh & run Cannazyme by Canna Nutrients it's the shit for the Root Zone.
Even if you can't keep your res that low in temp (which is hard to do, especially in the summer), massive air bubbles will make up for the temp problems. Never too much air for the roots.

I keep my Res temp @ 64 degress,I have no choice since it's a recirculating system so my whole system is @ 65 degrees once it's circulting

Colder water=more oxygen available to the root system. It really doesn't have that much to do with bacteria. To make up for warmer water (less O2 available) just increase air into the buckets, that will work to keep the roots and plants happy.

I was just reading this thread about people who run dwc with no chiller. Some claim to have success using a combination of sterile or beneficials. One of the main reasons to use a chiller in rdwc is because lower water temps hold more dissolved oxygen which is essential for nutrient and oxygen uptake in the root zone.

I am running 26 plants now, in a re-circulating drip system, that has a 1/8 HP chiller incorporated into the loop. I put the chiller in to be more safe than sorry (I was young), but never have needed to use it. I aerate the fuck out of my reservoir and that combined with the drip, I have a LOT of air in the water. This summer my res temp got into the high 70's, with no rot root issues, because I air the shit out of the water. Chillers are a waste of money in my opinion, unless you have no air in your water. Then they are needed. The downside to chillers are they run hot (add temp to the room) consume power (save save save) need additional plumbing (pumps, hoses, fittings) and for a good one, it will cost you around $300, easy.
So, to anyone contemplating buying one, think twice. An air pump and a stone will do exactly the same thing, which is to provide O2 to your roots.

How do you get it to be at 65? Is that air temp where you are growing? My res is room temp (basement) and it never get down to 65 degrees. How do you do it without chilling the water?

Yea bro I just almost tripled my O2 w/ 1882 GPH of O2 going into my 5 buckets so i'm hoping for good results.
