4 Autos / Are they ready for 400W MH And Feeding ?

This is a coco grow. 4 autos all 15 days old. I started them in 3 gal pots(12 liters) Started slow but they are coming back.

  • currently under 23w 6500k cfl lights. Is this the time to switch to 400W MH? How far the light should be?

  • Also in 1-2 days they will need water should I feed them with AN Sensi coco grow A+B nutrients? Or wait a little bit more to feed?
They have been only fed with voodoo juice 1 time, and thinking this is a coco medium it doesnt have any nutes in it, and I am afraid of starving them.

  • there are some curls on the edges of the leaves, is that a problem? what could be the reason for it?

Yeah I'd switch to MH. Distance can range from 6" to 18" depending on temps, if it's air-cooled then obviously it'll be closer to the lower end. Start at 18" and lower it every few days until you get to 10-12". Keep an eye on temps at canopy and watch for heat and light stress. What are you using for flower?

I know fuck all about Coco but they are looking healthy.

Start it at 1/4 strength and watch for burn signs, coco needs fed, it's a compleately neutral medium(no nourishment for the plant) don't let it go dry like you would with a soil grow, think of it as hydro, if your hydro res runs dry not good, same as your coir, looks good keep it up!

Ok, will do that. what is the max temp that should be at canopy?
I will be watching the temps at canopy for sure but dont know the max temp, some say you can go as far as 35 others say stay in 27 celcius and max 30.

For flower I have 2 lamps 1 400w Philips greenpower(it has blue spectrum added)
and I also have a lumii 400w(mixed spectrum HPS)
both HPS has blue added. My ballast is lumii digita, so I thought lumii lamp should work in harmony, but I have heard great things about greenpower too.

And do you have any idea when I should be changing to HPS? as this is an autoflower grow I am not quite sure on that. So any advise would be appreciated

Thank you for writing. Will start with 1/4 strength.

I am confused about feeding though.
below is the nutrient schedule I will be following(at 1/4 strength of course),

should I add and mix all of the 4 nutes in the water?
If that is the case , I am using a 2 liter sprayer bottle for mixing nutes and watering, I will add 2ml of sensi grow coco A, 2ml of sensi grow coco B,1 ML of B52,and 1 ML of voodoo juice in the 2liter bottle and mix all of them, measure PH , and water them till I get %20-%30 runoff. And if I need 2 liters more I will make the same mix right?

And after 3-4 days when the pots are dry, Should I give them nutes again or should I just adjust the PH and water them?
The schedule says week 1, are these the max amounts for the whole week?

any simplification would help me indeed. This is confusing

Last time I gave these water was 5 days ago,

Not sure, I only use the ph perfect coco a+b and a little armor si, I use about 200ppm on their first feed, then up it as they grow, I don't flush, but I do go to a good runoff, but people get good results using the an calculator also, just remember those 4ml measurements are per litre, so in a 2 litre it would be 8 of each total, 1/4 strength would be 2 ml of each total, and it's per watering not per week, so if you water twice in a week on week one then use the same mix both times

I`d go another week or 2 before I put them near a 400mh

or I`d pot them into huge sacks now and put the light up high and a bag or clear bell over the plant for a few days

then after 1 week or 2 of the MH I`d get it closer

Got some auto NL running atm

one pot with 3 to 5 plants in the flower zone its got the biggest single plant in it

then in the veg got another sack with 4 or 5 in it

Funny the biggest one in veg was close to a 5000k 40w induction lamp, it was getting a cloudy resin already, but right next to it was it`s smaller sister that had a small 12w 3000k led right on top of it and that plant had more white hair loads of it but not as developed bud

kinda hard to not think its due to the light difference the one under the induction looks way more ready to harvest than what`s in the flower tent that`s getting a mix of hps and led and both pots get fed the same

just funny to see it 2 plants in the same pot that were budding the same a few weeks ago with the light difference ones got bigger harder buds and the other tons of hair and its like a fade between with the 3 in between them, lol

Not trying to thread jack, just had a quick question, do you find better results running led with hps in flower, and when do you switch to both? I have my space setup to do this but had it on way too early and fried em a bit, I though with 30" of clearance it would be ok, but I thought wrong, even the large flowering autos went pale on me

While they're still in veg it's not as bad having temps on the high side, Try keep it under 30c. When it begins to flower you're gunna want to try get it down to 26c. It's easy to say temps need to be this and that but it's another thing actually controlling them lol. Good circulation and ventilation is key. I've been struggling to control them and ran into problems with them taking up to much nutes because of heat during flower and that was at around 30c, that doesn't mean you will have problems but it's better to play around and maybe spend a few £ to have the ability to control the temps better.

As for when to change to HPS, I'd say a week after they start flowering.

I grew mine from seed under HPS and they vegged really well. Only had problems because of heat during flower. The thing with autos is they're on a "timer", leaving them under a light more suitable for veg for to long could effect the end yield. You want them to get as much light as possible as soon as possible, without cooking them obviously.

Well I started out mostly leds, cfls and induction and use MH and HPS later

No set rules just go by the heat normally

most plants seem ok 1 to 2m away from a 600/1000w hps and can move closer over time

Leds 1w ones can get really close anything under 1w can almost touch but will burn if it touches

That being said blue leds can cause issues and the uv ones even more so if you don`t want the plant to orange up fast I`d keep it 14 inches away from any blue leds

Main reason I would run hps is to increase my yields but not because its hps just because its easier to put one 600w or 1000w light into a set up then a whole load of leds and because making an led light is not always something I have time for nor is hunting for a one for a good price

So yeah I use hps with led they work together just try not to have them blocking each other

Other people I know that like hps will use leds in the summer say "300w" so really 150w led panel with a 600w or 400w of hps to up the yield without getting too much heat

I was using red/blue cobs and a 600W MH that was working pretty well but only because I had aircon tbh I was using around 1600w in 1m x 1m x 2m once that was pretty crazy was just nice that even a plant with no clear sight to the lamps could still make top bud but it was a lot of work and all that light can cause issues for sure

but think I`d normally go all led if I can or led and induction, that way I can just use 5:1 red to blue with an induction lamp to fill in the rest but 3000k and 5000k leds work well too

Just I remember doing a JH under the red and blue leds I have among other plants they stretch far less they just grow really fat it used to fuck me when I 1st started using them lamps because I would expect the plant to get taller straight up missed a few harvest`s due to me just no considering how little upwards growth I was getting due to the lack of heat and other light spectrums I guess

I`d actually used 100cobs and "300w" 1w led panels on seedlings they were 1 to 2m away from the lights obviously covered for the 1st week or so, but would normally use a cfl or something for the 1st days/weeks, saying that I`m probably going to switch to a hps veg because I`d like fatter stems on my plants they struggle to hold the weight of the buds and we`ve not even maxed out the setup yet so I know they need fatter stems and I can`t be fucked supporting them its too much hassle for that setup

Just started using hps this grow, I love the way the autos grow with it, much taller, I was just trying to slow the stretch a bit on the vegging photos with the extra spectrum of led, but 1200w was a bit more than the gals could handle lolIMAG0496.jpg IMAG0463.jpgthey are greening up much better now that I turned out the ledsIMAG0502.jpg

Have you used triacontanol ? I mix it with alcohol then use it in a follia feeder, nothing else I`ve used makes plants bush and flower like that stuff, but GA3 or evaponics elixir steroids is very good for making them grow taller fast but if you over do it they`ll mega stretch like a grapevine and then can hermi too

No, haven't tried those, I did just start using the gh armor SI, in love with that stuff, stems growing thicker fast! And got a nice shine to the dark green leaves as well, I'll look into those though, thanks for the tip

Yeah man triacontanol its made via seaweed extraction or alfalfa so its pretty natural, read up on it and try it, 2 to 3 days and you see a difference even in veg you`ll see loads of node form and normally some white hairs can help you sex your plants if they have not showed yet, and you use such a tiny amount, I`m pretty sure that a lot of expensive "boosts" have that or seaweed extract in them and some fancy label

Oh yeah you have to keep it dark and in the fridge, but even 4 to 10 grams will last you over a year, most you can use it is every 10 to 20 days best not to over do it either but its like giving your plants crack they grow like fuck

Do you guys shake your nutrient bottle before adding them to the water? some bottles says "shake before use" on the instructions but some doesnt say anything about it. Would shaking cause any harm to the nutrient?

Yeah give it good shake. I also use a container to water with that can be sealed and shake once I've poured them into the water.

Well, I start my autos in solo cups under a small LED fixture on my kitchen counter. Once they are a few inches tall and have their first good set broad leaves. I put them in 3 gal grow bags andcset them under either my 1k HPS or my 600w HPS. I set the timer on 20/4 and water as needed. You really have to be careful when using nutes on autos. They don't like them. Just use a good soil. When growing autos keep in mind they will flower at a set time regardless of light. You want to maximize their exposure to the best light you can. There is no switching anything to start flowering.

Here is that little light I put my little sprouts under. Each bulb is 18 true watts.

Do you get good results from those type of lights? I've never seen anyone use them before, but I found a company that makes big fixtures that can adapt to those and the 2 pin ones as well, they even make them on a swivel so you can angle them, it seems like a cool idea to b able to mix your own spectrum

Yea I love them for what I use them for. I don't know how they would work built into a large fixture. I would think they would do pretty well.
