Hello, first post here. A friend and I are thinking about going in on a grow room thats 3x3x6, he has a strain "Cali Tahoe" that yielded 22 gs with 1 month veg with a 18 watt light, 90 days flowering with 2 9 watt led (60watt equivalent) and no grow tech's and 20 inchs tall, we are thinkin about doing 9-5gallon buckets with possibly a 300 watt led panels (187 actually watt). What would be a ideal wattage for this area and for yielding 2 oz minimum a plant

Hey man how's it going just from my experience I've grown in all kinds of conditions in my opinion I'd grow in 3-4 gal pots 5gal pots are just to big for the lack of light you plan on using i on an average pull 1/4 lb per plant dry weight use fox farms ocean forest and use what ever nutes ( just remember use a 1/4 less of the amounts listed) to start with after 3-4 weeks in just water with ph'd water at 6.5-6.8 seems to work best the seedling stage last about 3-4 weeks then you will see the transition to full veg then start feeding slow then move to full strength after a couple of weeks and if you are starting with clones same thing allow time for the roots to form then start using nutes and it would be smart to lift your plants to figure the weight DRY then use about 1/2 gal of ph'd water then pick it up that way you know when it's time to water watering to soon can SERIOUSLY stunt production need to allow air to penetrate through the soil I hope this helps out

And if you want to get ideal lighting would be 400w MH and 400w HPS for a great outcome
Thanks for the help, I'll probably end up with a 400watt hps maybe a 600, I was reading leds don't yield nearly as much. Do u think it's possible to get a lb yield off 3x3 with 3-4gallon buckets if we get it dialed in? We are splitting the yield so Im trying to get about a hp to smoke on till we can get the next harvest

That's a good question based on what you've described as your grow space 3x3 is somewhat tight confines run 9x 4gal if your trying to produce 1/2 lb each dry or wet is the question but most of the time you want dry expectations so 1 lb dry would mean you need to gross weight over three pounds because on an average your going to lose 60-80 % weight in the drying phase so typically the ratio is 1 Oz per 1 gal so in 4 gal pots average 4oz but that's not always true (DEPENDS ON STRAINS) crappie strain crappie yield great strain great yield so then it's light penetration and nutes and constant ph'd water ( I use an aerator in my Reservoir ) OXYGEN is always key to big yields and CO2 intake and top the everloving shit out of it you might want to veg for 2ish months FIMING on some and topping others works wonders I hope it works out man keep it between 76-82 during the day and around 70-76 at night and constant airflow I keep mine rather fast watch how thick they get Quick

It all depends on the LEDs. I have all sorts and have used most common ones you can buy. I pull off the same amount as my hps would using less wattage. Buds come out thick and dense. I have two fairly large rooms I built too. Make sure you get some good quality reflective material everyone has their favorite i personally use orca grow film on my walls ceiling and floor. If your grow is dialed in you'll make out pretty good. If your growing soil smart pots (the cloth ones) are a good investment.

Also top them a few times and increase your final yield
Do u have any led brands you would say stand out from the others. Im looking for a led light that has the veg and flower option. As of the tech to grow we are thinking mainly topping and some lst, we fimmed a super silver haze clone and it still hasn't recovered almost been 2 weeks, I'm hoping to get a bigger veg room to be able to get a mother so I can clone bigger clones for a better veg time

a 315 LEC would also be great for that space and may give you better yield and quality than a 400 watt HPS.commercial LEDs are very inefficient so unless you want to build your own you are better off with HIDs.

build a cob if you can.i also own a couple of kinds xl1000 they have a good footprint. I've used lush LEDs and they're pretty good too. I'm actually using my xl1000 atm for my current grow while I build a true 1000 watt cob light.they are most likely not recovering due to the low light. Light is number one and most important in your grow.

i'm working on getting set up to start a small sog, 12 at a time. i've done some reading up on it. i plan to use 2 gallon grow bags set in the middle of 1 foot squares. i'm going to use white widow clones, that finish as full size plants in under 75 days. as sog sized plants i hope to get that real close to 60 days. the plant you choose has a huge impact on the whole thing, if you pick a long flowering sativa,
you might as well just grow bushes, and the same for plants that tend to get real branchy and bushy. you'll spend more time training them and the plants will have to expend more effort recovering from the training. the whole point of sog is speed, and compactness. as many plants as possible as quick as possible. i plan to have two mothers and take turns taking cuttings from them so they have time to recover between the quick turn around times i'm hoping for

Lec are a little to expensive for me, We are thinking like 150-220 for a lights.

Lol for the first grow any way we are limited, I guess I could wait a extra 2 weeks or month for more money, just seen the other post

ill look into the cob lights, I was looking at a post yesterday about them, the xl1000 are way out of my price range for awhile I think.(220 but I can wait 2 weeks till I get paid) the ssh responded well to topping but the clone was fimmed after it was rooted and it grew the lower branches but then it just stopped like it was in shock

the 2 mothers is a good idea I'll have to see if we have enough area to have that many, we plan on running a few different strains, so far we have "Cali Tahoe"-90 day sativa pheno yielded really dense lemony bud, i have some seeds(150) I found in my bud from a discount buds dispensary that is "King Louie og"I'm hoping we can find a nice pheno that's about 64 days or so but I could go get a northern lights and aim for 60. Also some sog is for dense compact nugs as well sometimes and the Cali we grew had all 2-3GS nugs with out a cola on day 75 it touched the lights so we chopped it to the next branches, we have more room tho in a 3x3x6, we had it in a 1.5x1x2 area with no tech's at the time, now we will top and lst and try fimming on the Tahoe this go around
