I am contemplating buying a 600W HPS for my 3x3 tent. I currently have a 400W hps. Do you guys think it would be wise to get a bigger light in this kind of space of should I stick with the 400W. Is a 600W overkill for a 3x3 tent space? opinions?

i have 600w in 3x3. not overkill some people have 1000w in 3x3

400w is fine too i guess but of course you will yield more with 600w

I use a 400w in a small tent and have heat issues that MUST be dealth with....even with a cooltube, a 600w will prob need some sort of cooling other than ambient airflow....good luck!

Go with a 600w and an enclosed hood with a good fan. I run three rooms, all are 3X4. Two run 1000w HPS with a 440 cfm fan and one with a 600w open hood with a 440 cfm fan. You can get a fan off ebay for $100 to your door so go with the 600 for more yeild.

My set up is the log in my sig. I have a 200 cfm sunleaves inline fan exausting my enclosed hood through a carbon filter then into my room. I control ambient temps with a 6500 btu window AC. I just got a 400W lumatek for flowering and I currently use a 4 bulb 2 foot T5 HO for veg, only 96 watts tho figure using the 400 ballasts selectability and make it a 250 MH while the 600 ballast is set on 400w waiting for winter. Saving the600W for the winter would be better so heat will be easier to deal with. Aight here comes the 600. Thx errybody

yeah you're fine as long as long as you can control temperature. And don't let the leaves hit the light. It will burn the fuck out of them. But... Yes. 600 is ok. 1000 might be too much. HPS has some really high output.
