3rd Grow attempt, 1 week in

Hey RIU

This is my 3rd grow attempt, Im about 1 week in, my plants have their first set leaves, unfortunately for me this is the stage that all of my previous grows have died at, I have never seen the second set of true leaves,
Which causes me to pose the question... how does this look?

the plants were germinated in papertowel, one seed was placed in rockwool for the first 3 days the other straight into soil

the ph of my watering water went unchecked for a couple of days and rose to well above 8 without my noticing

today I added ph down to it and watered it for a runoff of just slightly below 6.0

lighting is 400watt hps, with 4 40watt cfls for sidelighting/duel spectrum

heres some pics of the setup anyone's tips would be helpful, it would be nice to finally get a plant large enough to use as a mother

no its shcultz soil , im going to buy promix on payday.

Side lighting is not needed yet, they are too small, the 400w is fine. You are not using that 20-20-20 yet are you? Clear containers are not ideal. How did your ph go up, are you using open containers?

the side lighting is just for the duel spectrum atm just because I know both of the lights miss the spectrum I need but are strong enough to grow the plants so where the lights cross should be a good spectrum ( just a stoned theory, they cant hurt really I don't think)

that 20-20-20 might not ever get used since I have some liquid 10-10-10 but no they aren't getting fed at all yet, that container is to keep the pc fans at plant height
Im not sure why the ph went so high here is a picture of my watering container, I use a little hose with that vacuum method people use to drain their dwc res out to water them,

I know the clear one isn't Ideal but i'll either wrap it if it shows it's roots or transplant it to an actual pot
