Hey guys,

It's time for my third grow. I've learned alot the first two times and I'm determined to get one pound this round. I will be using the random seeds from my purple kush self pollinating itself and a few random bagseeds as well.
Because I had SLH, PK and Critical mass in my last grow I'm not entirely sure what my plants will be

Nutrients:
Flora micro
AN Iguana Juice
Superthrive
Bud blood
Cal Mag
Neem Oil

Lights:
Few Cfls until I get my tent built
400 watt hps for veg
1000 watt hps for flower

I plan on doing some extreme lst and vegging alot longer then the first two times too ensure I reach my goal
I will be building the tent once the poly arrives in the mail but that could take up too two weeks...I'm hoping my CFLs will suffice until then as I need a ten before I can use my 400 watt hps.

Updates will be weekly or biweekly. Any suggestions or comments feel free to comment.

Constructed tent? Or bought? What did you get? Size?

400watt HPS for veg? Were you looking to stretch the plant for lst? Or why HPS over MH?

Have you considered how you will cool your tent?

I am growing in a basement which I've grown in without ventilation before, it's pretty cold. I am construcitng a 5 x 5 tent I am just awaiting the poly film. I don't have the money for an mh and originally purchased a 400 watt hps and then later bought a 1000 watt both hps as I was in the flowering stage. The 400 watt HPS was fine for veg last time. I have always used 18/6 lighting but I'm one week in and have been using 24/0 as the claims it can veg 33% faster. However, since I'm lst'ing perhaps the night period could help in creating a little needed stretch?

Also, the last picture with the tow lower plants that are close together were twins from one seed. I seperated them into there own pots and both are doing very well. I expected the small one to quickly succumb but its thriving only a tiny bit smaller then the rest.

Hey folks,

It's day 11 and they are all doing fairly well. I watered today and noticed one plant had some minor signs of nitrogen deficiency so I put about 1/16 dose of floramicro and one drop of cal mag and fed for the first time. I'm hoping this extremely low dose doesn't burn them.

I've built my grow tent frame. It's 5x5x5. I'm hoping for 6 nice females out of the ten seedlings I have. Any questions comments or queries, feel free to ask.

i currently have a grow going thats alot like yours, 5x5 tent in a basement under 1000watts... your still gunna need to vent your hood outside your tent.

It's possible but I've done a grow in a similar area with 1400 watts vertical and absolutely no ventilation at all. Perhaps that could of contributed to my low yield but the temps were only like 80 with lights on and 65 off...

Decided to switch to 18/6 on day 12 as I'm getting pretty tight node spacing and I want to be able to lst. It's pure indica so I figure it will help and conserve on energy. Also, I didn't really relish the fact of keeping a hps light on for a month at a time. I like to let it have a cool down period. I will update at week 2 with a few more pics.

Woke up this morning on day 14 of veg to find a light laying on my plants. Three plants received minor burns to there leaves and the one seedling; I picked the seed from my only SLH got badly burnt on the stem so it may not survive.

I decided to use a tarp as a makeshift barrier until I get my poly wrap in a week or so. The plants should recover with the aid of the hps light now. I also watered with straight water and a little superthrive...

The plants will be transplanted very soon as well. There is roots poking out of the bottom of the cups but I have to wait for my pots to get here as well...

Day 17 since they popped ground.

No new pics until week three update but I justed wanted to post despite having no viewers; I understand veg is boring...

I have always ph'd my water and nutes but I never really took the time to do runoff...
So this grow I decided it's very important to test the runoff everytime.
So last week my runoff was 6.0 which I think is fine right?
But this week I watered with 6.6 ph'd water as I figured the ph had dropped since last watering, but the runoff was 6.4

Is this acceptable?

Other then that, plants are doing fine, the few that were burned with the cfls falling on them are recovering nice under the 1000 watt hps.
I'm running 20/4 as of three days ago. They are a little smaller then normally which I think is because they are still in dixie cups. However I am not transplanting before I get my tent finished which should be on friday.

I'm a newb here so double check my info. You sound like you got some things dialed in so it strikes me as odd that you don't have the specifics on your strains nailed down. Unless your doing a perpetual grow, I would suggest using an mh conversion bulb in the hps during veg (if your not already.) 6.5 ph is ideal imo, though people will tell you you want ph to cycle between 6 and 7 overall, hitting 6.5 as much as possible.

Your planning to yield a pound (448 gms) from 6 plants? I think that in its self is do-able considering you are only asking less than half a gram per watt and a little over an oz and half per plant. Honestly, I think you are going to do much better than that if you have your grow-room environment and nutes under control.

I wouldn't keep fucking with the lighting schedule unless you want hermies. Commit and stick to it.

All in my humble opinion, best of luck. :D

I know the light schedule was messed up a few times but I'm not too worried about it as im still in veg. As for the strains, I was growing 6 feminized PK and 1 feminized SLH and 1 feminized critical mass....I found like 20 seeds total in about 6 ounces of bud so I'm assuming they self pollinated...this is why I'm not entirely sure of the strains.

Gotcha about the strains. I will be paying close attention to this thread cause I wanna do something similar soon. I am going 20 plants rather than 6 though. Pushing the limit for the 1000watt hps, but wanna get the most bang for my buck in the shortest period of time. What size pots you plant on using for your last pots? I'd go with 5 gal if I were you, you seem to want big plants and the big buckets will let the plant grow nice and big under the surface so it can grow nice and big above the surface.

yah I have done 5 gallon for final home in all of my grows...

Also, I got a free bag of seeds form a friend whos caregiver gave him. Apparently there is a mix of jack herer, pinapple kush and some random crosses and strains. I got about 50 seeds and I've started germing 5 more...

Also, I'm going to be germing the rest in the upcoming few weeks and doing a guerilla grow or a guerilla veg...Since it is a short season and they are bag seeds I don't know if they will finish, I had trouble with both of my outdoor plants last year not finishing so I may just veg them outside and take them in before they start flowering to flower them under the HPS once this batch is flowered...Opinions?

Sounds sweet. I know what you mean about nobody wanting to look at your journal since its in veg. Mine is going the same way but I keep posting anyways. lol I got my seeds for free too and Im glad because Im on my first grow. Im growing in a room approx 10x10 with a 1000 watt mh then switching over to the 1000 watt hps for flower. My plants started at different times but on average they are about 1 month old. Cant wait to flip them over to flower!

Went for more promix today for transplanting and all of it was outside and frozen...So I decided to try coco coir for the first time. I'm going to mix abour 25-35% perlite in with it and transplant two of them into the coco tonight.

If they respond well then the rest will be transplanted using coco in a few days. Tommorow is week three and I'll have some pic updates soon.

They are all doing well. I germed about 20 bagseeds for an outdoor grow, im going to veg them for about a month indoors....Only one popped so far.

Day 22, sorry for no pics, will try to get them up shortly. Plants are all doing well except the smaller of the twins from one seed. I expected it to not grow but it was growing great. It pretty much died with the last feeding I gave to my plants as it was alot smaller then the others. I uprooted it and the roots were all white but very sparce so I decided to just garbage it.

That leaves me with 9 plants. I also have 10 or so bagseeds germinating for the last 48 hours but they still aren't cracking, so the seeds my not be viable. I scarified a few of them and I'm leaving them for another 48 hours to see if they pop.

I will be transplanting in a few days and starting lst. I hope to only have to veg another 2 weeks after that if all goes well.

Day 23, All plants are doing great minus the one I killed. They could definately be growing faster if they were transplanted, I am transplanting tommorow or wednesday at the latest. I finally got my poly wrap in and will be finishing light sealing it tommorow.

I'm going to give it it's first quarter dose of nutrients in two waterings as I don't wanna feed them nutes the day I transplant.

how long you thinking about vegging these out for to get that pound? always interested in ways to get a pound. how many plants you think you'll need to be female? and i'd definitley transplant asap cuz root growth is supposed to be fastest in vegatative stage and were you thinking 5 gals or what?
