3k liquid cooled vertical grow.

I love vertical grows. Very nicely put together Jefferson. Ive just put together my first sealed room. Cant wait to see these monsters. Id love to try vertical in the future.
I was really turned on to vertical grows seeing the one thread (not sure if its on rollitup or some other forum) about the 20 gallon recirculating dwc sealed room grows and thought it was very efficient. I also have the ducts for my central air taking up headroom so I though vertical would be better to have taller plants. I don't think these plants will be very large because they have been through a bacteria infection and other problems but will produce what i need to sustain myself and buy new hydroton ect... i will switch genetics the next round hopefully! Good luck with your room and if I can help in any way just ask!

use a deep freezer as your res! atleast for the lights!? love the setup bro... makes me wanna go fresca... i wish there was a inline fan coolable 8" fresca... the best of both worlds!... im high, but i know it would be badass...
do you use a filter for the water in your frescas?
I am not sure a deep freezer would keep enough h20 for three 1k's plus it might cool it down too much. If the water temp for the light reservoir is under 50 degrees then it could cause thermal crack on the frescas when the bulbs turn on. I will ditch the 1/4 hp chiller and replace it with a commercial one next summer. I will then use the 1/4 hp chiller for my nutrient reservoir and keep the 1/10hp chiller as backup.
If you want to go water and fan cooled then I would go with an icebox. I like the idea of having no large fans in the room to make noise. This is why I choose the frescas in the first place. No noise, efficient and great to use with a sealed room.
As for the filter I am using a C.A.P. 3/4" inline filter. It does the job well. I also use 2 cups of h202 a week and 5 ml of bleach every week to keep shit clean. I empty half my water every 2 weeks to keep it fresh.

Thanks dude always appreciate good input over in my grow journal. Come through anytime. I just read that you use bleach and h202 in your setup. I think the bleach by itself should be enough for 50 gal with out the h202. Im using 6ml every week with 60 gal of water. This is the ratio fatman recommends. Good to see others using bleach besides myself.

I am only running bleach, no h2o2. I, like yourself, am using fatmans recommendations. I am running the same 1ppm at initial dose and .5 ppm's every other day. Seems to be working great.

I saw in reply #22 where you said that you use "2 cups h2o2 a week and 5ml bleach every week to keep shit clean." I am confused. Regardless I cant wait to watch your grow since you are using the bleach and vertical lights with recirculating dwc. This is my dream setup. Im first learning hydro growing with my current ebb and flow using rockwool as medium. Later when I feel real comfortable Ill shift to something similar to your setup. Looks fun. How much work is the maintenence and upkeep of a system like your running?

Ah yes, I was replying to G33's comment about the filter for my reservoir connected to my Fresca Sols. I was saying that I ran bleach and h202 in their. The light's cooling system does not like large amounts of bleach so I use h2o2 to keep the water clean in addition to a small dose of bleach every week.
I only use bleach in my reservoir for the plants.

Wow, bleach? I would've thought that would kick the plants asses? I guess it doesn't hurt in such small doses? I wonder how much of a hit the beneficial bacteria is taking from the bleach though. Hey, if it aint broke, right?!

If youre runnin chemical hydro not organic its not a problem.

nice setup, looks amazing. im thinking of getting a fresca light and was just a little curious about them. think i could run a 1000w on a 50 gal res with no chiller? sort of broke at the moment and cant afford a chiller. thanks for any info. good luck with your crop.

wow incredible but i have to wonder wouldnt thos liquid coolers decrease the amount of light reaching the plants by a small percentage?

Yes they do but a very small fraction like 2% if that. I grew under 4 1000watt fresca sols. Once you get all the little bugs worked out. There quite fun to grow with.

My apologies but I feel the need to mention (for any newbies reading this post) that there's a hundred other ways to fight bacteria and other issues without using fricking bleach..... holy cow pie seriously people?!!!!! You're supplying your happy little green friends with toxic bleach on purpose even at a small dose of 60ml per 60 gal????......wtf man.... That's fine you guys can keep your bleach methods and laced colas. F!ck all people, go organic. You do it right you can get the same turnout if not better.....

On the other side of things this is a really good setup Jefferson.
Though, I disagree with your nute choices everyone has their preference; I'm only hating on the bleach method.
Sounds nuts to me. Not sure why you guys would do that even if it does work... it's crazy.... It's BLEACH! there i'm done. have a good day.

An old normal sized refrigerator works great to chill water for large dwc setups... think kegerator....

Could of questions.

Are the bacteria problems because you have a sealed room with no air in and out?

also what kind of HP chiller would you need to be looking at for 6- 8, 600w lights?

Air flow helps fight mold and bud rot.
6-8 600watt lights? Look at it this way, a single watt of light creates like 3.41 btu's of heat. So lets do the math.
On the high end - 8 1,000watt lights would be 8,000 watts of light, 8,000 X 3.41 = 27,280 btu's of heat are going to be created so you'll need a chiller rated for that (or more unless you want it too work it's ass off so hard that it effects it's life span) That's going to be a big ass chiller, over a 1 ton, I bet.
