Mines are starting to get all leafy & bushy like small Xmas tree lol,but there's loads small flowering sites forming & I'm just bending big fan leaves or tucking them under to expose small new growth

I dont know much about autos but i do know that it will just cause them to take longer to flower/ veg and sometimes it takes longer to go from veg to flowering or vise versa. Just a little stunt

Most autos are not light dependent , they are on very short life cycle hard wired into its genetics. Other words it will flower regardless of light. I recommended 24/0 for autos and they usually don't need a dark period. I have grown 21 plants , this one is a 1 1/2 week ChocoSkunk on 24/0 100w 5000k light with floro side lights . I grow her like this until week or first preflower . Then I swap light to 2700 k ( 6 - 8 100w feint brand 2700 k CFL ) with hood . I have 600w LED but cannot leave on 24 , so a CFL setup is cheaper and easier on power bill.

With autos I find going cfl is easier because of heat issues and you can also grow with mixed CFL ( 6400 , 5000 and 2700 ) together. I have tried 18/6 but really didn't get the overall plant size I like . This auto will be in a smaller 3 gallon because of space , but I use 5 gallon pots to get more plant. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

Nice design Budz. If you don't mind my asking, how much did that cost to put together? It looks awesome.

I'm not a carpenter or an electrician by any means, so I went with open hood / hid ballast setup. $200+ for 400w

It is made from a piece of air ducting ( 8" diameter ) cut down the middle. The inside has a satin polished surface ( as is ) and " spread " with threaded rods. Hangers are common hanging chain about 4 foot length. Each socket is y - socketed for dual bulbs.

I chose 8 bulbs so I can " light " 4 , 6 or eight. Use at least 100w / 150w CFL.
I used ECOSMART 5000k (1600 lumen each ) and / or Feint Electric 6400 k .

Flowering : swap to CREE 2700 k
( side lamps optional ) for under canopy lighting. This my favorite setup for smaller grows.
OR
I use to veg all my plants this way then move them into Mars Hydro 600w full spec LED Panels
( 2 x 600 w ) sometimes Just 1 panel depending on how many plants. I usually like a more controllable amount ( 5 to 8 plants ) .

I'm not looking to med the neighborhood !
But seriously , I have too much heat from conventional HID lights so I had to rethink based on my situation. What's cool about this hood design is that I can start veg plants very close (3 - 5 " ) and raise the hood as one piece as they grow .

It cost around $60 - 70 bucks.
