This may sound rant-ey but I'm tired of the 2 type of dealers I seem to run into. Either they're doing me a huge favor by taking my (husbands) hard earned money...or they act so sketchy that it really does feel like a DRUG deal, and I'm just not comfortable with that. So this week instead of buying pot (GASP!) I spent it on improving my grow.
My goal is to get a good enough grow going that I can quit buying from others completely. If I have to I can get by on about an ounce a month (although the last couple months it's been closer to 2oz) so I need to be turning out at least 3oz per grow cycle. This isn't my first grow, but the last couple have had downright pitiful results. Since then I've learned a lot, but I still consider myself a newbie for sure. Right now my grow box is 3ft tall, 18in wide and 12in deep...not that good of an area. I've got 4 - 27W (100Weq) CFLs going 12 hours a day on a 70 day old female that I'll be lucky to get a half oz out of.
Last night I purchased:
2 - 6 slot power strips
6 - power outlet to light socket adapters
12 - y splitters
12 - 27W (100W eq.) daylight CFLs
Each power strip will have 3 adapters with y splitters totaling 6 bulbs per strip. I had to do it this way to have room for the CFLs (no possible way to have 12 bulbs per strip) and the y splitters make it so the side of the bulbs will be facing the plants instead of the tips...I've heard this is the best way to position them.
I am converting the bottom section of my bathroom closet into a grow space. Not exactly "stealth" but a little better that a travel trunk sitting in the middle of my bedroom with lights coming out every crack. I'll be putting my husband to work on the new grow area as soon as he gets home from work so I will try to post some pictures tonight.
I am definitely open to, and desperate for, advice. So anything other than "CFLs suck" is welcome!
