Many thanks to DrGreenFinger for hard work and design of this unit. I usually don't do grow journals, but I figured it would be nice to share as others do. Hopefully I help or inspire and learn some along the way.

So the strain is Pot of Gold by The Flying Dutchmen. I always keep this in my garden because I LOVE it. These cuttings were taken 9-13-09 and have all rooted as of today. There are 5 or 6 that don't have roots coming out of the netpots, but they are there and will be soon.

In a week or so after the roots are well established I will move the unit into a 4x4' tent with a 1000W HPS. I will veg for max 2 weeks and then start flowering. I will be using the SOG method and I hope to accomplish 1oz per plant for a total of 2lbs. Wish me luck, comments welcome....now some pics.

Nice plan, hopefully this works out for you. I'm only running 1 for right now for trial and error. If all goes well I will build 3 more systems, one exclusively for cloning and the rest in a 4x8' tent under 2000W perpetual.

Earl, nice to see the king of aero tagging along. I'll update Sunday afternoon when these go into the tent.

you plan to harvest every 3wks? where did you buy the pump...
After this trial grow, I will build 3 more units and move to my 4x8' tent with 2 - 1000W HPS. It will have 3 of these systems in there 3 weeks apart in flowering. I will use my 4x4' tent for mothers and have the last system in there as an aero cloner. Bought the pump on good ol' ebay, its a Via Auqa 2300 which is rated at 609GPH.

2 lb's thats a hell of a goal for your first run. DOC uses 2 and barley gets the 2 pounds. you should strive more .5-.75 ish. a gram per wat would be over 2 but even getting a G per W is hard. good luck ill be watching as im running the systems also

I agree the goal is set high, but not too far out of reach. I will be happy with whatever I get tho. Tomorrow they will go into the tent for day 1 of veg.

I will be following the Lucas formula with the exception of using RO, I'm using tap. I use FloraNova Bloom @ 6ml per gallon which put my ppm at 1380 with a ph of 6.7. I adjusted the ph down to 5.5 and as I anticipated the ph/ppm as of today rose to 6.1 and the ppm dropped to 1220. The ph swing is normal and the ppm drop is due to the bubble stone aerating the tap water. Before the plants are transferred tomorrow I will adjust the ppm back to 1300 and the ph down to 5.8. I will check the water level daily and add back plain water only if needed. I will only check ph/ppm if I see issues otherwise I will check once a week and adjust the ph/ppm to within range for the Lucas formula. Also, I know people will strongly disagree, but I will not flush these plants at all. I choose this method because its proven and simple.

Pics tomorrow.

DND, firstly, nice looking setup.

Secondly, I had a question for you - you said that you're going to veg your clones for two weeks before flowering - any idea how tall they're going to be at that time?

Just curious, I'm getting ready to throw sixteen plants into a similar setup (4x4 tent, 1000 watter) and am going back and forth on how long I can veg them for before inducing flowering.

Again, good looking setup and good luck (if I get two lbs. my first harvest I'll be one happy Bob).

Thx Bob for the compliments.

I estimate they will be between 8-10" tall, maybe 12". If your putting 16 of them in the same sized tub you can veg for longer, probably a month. Get them nice and bushy, they will yield more. I'm vegging for less time and making up for it by using more plants to achieve comparable yield. To give you a solid answer, if it was me I would veg for at least a month.

GL with your setup as well.

Appreciate the input - gonna be experimenting with veg times, topping, etc. - I'll let you know how it works out.

Now go get 2 elbows off your system, kiddo :blsmoke:

like the aero tub DND. im a dirt guy that uses aero cloners to get them to dirt stage. but i just started running some bubbleponics 5gal buckets as a comparison, and wuz blown away by the first few weeks of veg. anyways ive been thinking bout building some larger totes, for either dwc in final stages and aero for veg. wanted to know how u like ur d i y, and if theres anything u would do different on ur build next time around on a tote. anyways much luck on the goal... i think its very possible with some of the nugz ive seen outta hydro , right here on riu..later TM

Thx tilemaster... I really have to credit DrGreenFinger for this design and great tutorial. The only thing I would/am going to change is adding a drain/fill plug to the bottom of the tote...one that I can hook a garden hose to. He mentions this in the thread also. Even though I am not going to be doing rez changes, even that 1 time trying to dump 17-20 gallons of water is a pain in the a$$. I would say with DWC its even more of a necessity with even more water. You should try an all aero grow, I bet you would like it. Here is the link to the DIY... https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/156863-grow-2-lbs-2-x.html

As I said, today is the day they go into the tent and start day 1 veg. I adjusted the rez to 1320ppm with a ph of 5.6. Should be a good starting point! I also have 2 huge POG mothers in 3 gallons of soil that I m going to flower this time around. Pic coming.
