Hi there growers, planning on replacing the 300w CFL with a 250W digital HID lights , to be precise Dual spectrum HPS.
You will also find measurements of the grow area.
No vents or extractors used. Just one oscillating fan.
With everything switched off the environment temps are about 5° C which is equal to 41°F .
The CFL did generate quite some heat which I didnt expect, and also had a reflector and when on the temps of grow room are about 25º C. which is 77ºF.
If heat is too high then ballast settings can be turned to 150w.

1.
Will replacing the 300w CFL with a 150W HPS give away more heat with the current set up?
2. Optimum watts to lumens to grow 2 photo plants using HPS, in other words will this setup be efficient?

Your input and opinions would be appreciated.

You can't, or it's not a good idea to grow in a closed environment without C02, and you need to exchange the air in that space somehow. Other it's gonna stay hot and stale in there

The temps need to come up 20 degrees at night. that 41 degree temps is gonna halt your plants growth. A 36 degree temp difference between light on and off is REALLY EXTREME!

150's aren't bad to cool at all. I've running 2 alongside a 400w HPS. When I ran CFLs they were warmer!
Ie. 16 23w CFLs put out more heat than 2 150w HPSs!

And I honestly don't think your box is wide enough to accomodate 2 bushes bro. 1ft isn't wide enough

Look at target or walmart for portable wardrobes, or just get a legit tent! You can grow one nice plant in there tho without a doubt!

12/12 fs would work bro, but you have to pick the right pots size to end in. Maybe you can fit a like 4 1gal pots in there..Grow bags also take us very little space as they're narrow and tall. Look into some of those :joint:

Does anyone know by the way about the digital ballasts?? For instance when a 400w digital ballast when turned down to 250w will it still be the same temp as a 400w or give out the actual 250w heat?? :???:
:peace:
