Hello dear community!

I'm migrating my grow journal form another website and language.
currently I'm on day 22 of flower.

I have installed 2 doors on the second floor of a my house and isolated 3 rooms.
To reach each room we have to open 3 air tight doors,
which is isolating great against sound, possible smell leakage and curious guests )

Join me in my quest for highest grams per watt
and on my learning curve of creating the most efficient grow op I can possibly build.

currently
-soil (19l pots) and feeding with Bio-bizz.
-17x175w shitty chinese panels over 4m2 area
-burning natural gas to produce co2 1200-1500 ppm

the cool hood works amazing.
though I still need to add a stronger fan to pull the heat out even better.
the temps at day 24.5-25.5c canopy level (night ouside)
temps at night 21-22c

I got one dehumidifier and ac working
the humidity is 60-75%.
I guess I need another dehumidifier for better results

white and blue panles:

blue 450nm

First of all, thanks for sharing. I am always interested in how “farmers” light and grow their plants.

I see you have 4 lines of LED panels drawing about 3000 watts. No one can say you don’t have a good mix of a variety of manufactures and wavelengths of LEDs!


I have a few questions:

What is the size of your grow area under the 3K of LEDs?

Have you tried extreme defoliation before?

Looks like you top each plant and shoot for how many branches?

Do you defoliate just once around 3 weeks into flower, or more often?

the area is 4m2.

this is the first time I'm trying extreme deleaf.
I have always felt that this is what the plants need to produce more.
and after seeing "three a light" commercial I have decided to go with it full power : )

these plants are different age, some topped, some not. I don't count branches.
this is my second time growing and the first time at this location.
I didn't even established my genetics yet. so there is no set strategy I'm following yet

for now I defoliate when I feel the need and plants look to crowded.
later on I'll establish a steady regime to follow. or maybe i'll just buy the book and follow their strategy.
(though you can clearly see exactly when and how they defoliate even without the book lol)
lets see what the plants will tell...

OK. So I did some converting. That would be about 43 square feet, or about a 6.5 foot square…a bit bigger than a king-size bed. And you are running about 70 dissipation watts per square foot. (When you are ready to consider white COBs and cut that power bill in half, this is a good site to learn how to do it…just saying.)


As for defoliating, I am a big fan (no pun intended). I wait until about 3 weeks into flower when the basic plant structure is built, then pinch off everything with a long stem and then let the bud leaves grow and take over. Then pinch off every week or two after that. I am somewhere between K33 “The Defoliator” or the site Three A Light and “don’t touch that fan, everyone’s there for a reason.” I did check out the three-a-light video. Very interesting…and persuasive. I get to watch you and see how it works!


I like your style of training where you train the branches out horizontal, and pinching the fans looks like it is keeping the internodes tight. I will be following your grow to see how it turns out. I like the “bungie” trellis in your picks. Do you have a LUX or PAR meter to take any canopy readings?


*BTW, as an aside, that big pile of fans have a lot of health benefits. I make a fruit/veggie smoothie in my blender everyday and I regularly throw in any pinched fans. I think cannabis is a super good herb for preventative medicine…just saying.

4 x 4 meters is 16 square meters or ~44 square feet I think.

lux meter is on the way. and PAR meter I'll buy after harvest : )

so how is deleaf is going for you? do you feel it yields better?

So plucking fans is going great. This is 48 days of flower and was really plucked hard at day 21. Then as needed after that. As you can see some fans need to come off now. This is a single plant in a 2'x4' box and from past experience will yield about 10oz. A bit over an ounce a sq/ft. And that with about 15 PAR watts/sq/ft of Vero 29s at 3500K. I am a big fan of plucking and white COB lights!

You are right. If it was a square that was 4 meters on a side, that would be 16 square meters. He was referring to 4 sq/meters. :mrgreen:

with a wand every day, depending on the phenotype 1-2.5 liters
(water from the dehumidifier and osmosis+light stimulants between feedings)

I'm adjusting my tea PH to 7.0 each feeding with the help of wood ashes

Temps
It's a known fact that plants thrive in higher temps. I never really had luck with it though.
but recently I heard it once again from a reputable source and decided to give it a shot once again.
especially when my humidity is around 70%. so it fits the VPD chart pretty well.
I'm not sure how the end of flower will look though because I'm out of money for another dehumidifier at the moment.
Hope that the Deleaf process will help to keep everything in check.

Your plants look happy. I like to see the leaves lifting up like that. And I like the way the buds are stacking up. Maybe just me, but is there a tiny bit a tip burn? What is your EC? Not sure on the conversion from the PPM you have showing.

I went back and looked several times at the 3 A Light site videos...especially # 3. If I count the days right, it looks like they defoliate about 30 days from planting a rooted clone in the pots. Then again about 20 days into flower. At least it looks like that to me. Tell me what you think. Doing the heavy math from your pictures, you took the fans off at 17 days into flower. They sure look good for doing it. What was your plan in veg and later in flower? Thanks.

*Also, I have the same gauge you do. I like it a lot. My problem is the opposite of yours. My RH hovers in the low 20s...quite dry. Haven't tried to remedy it.
