And since we're being critical of human rights records, how many non-violent people in the "land of the free" are imprisoned yearly for smoking a harmless plant?

;p

Now we are comparing spending a night in jail for smoking weed with being killed by your government for political reason's.. I now know why Englishmen make fun of the Irish lol...

A night in jail? There's like a million people in prison right now in the US for marijuana offences, that's a problem for the Americans to fix.

North Korea has an autocratic dictatorship, that's for the North Koreans to sort out.

Same thing really.

Yes, same thing. You hit it on the head. Please go further in enlightening us how being in jail for weed and being murdered for political reasons are the same thing. I am so interested.

They're both blatant denials of human rights?

And it's the responsibility of the populace of that country to change it.

The OP said something along the lines of "It's terrible they've been allowed continue on this path".

I countered with its their problem to fix themselves.

Its not a difficult concept, in diplomatic circles it's called "minding your own business".

Is my opinion on human rights more valid than the Government of North Koreans? Yes it is.

You are defending a country that starves, murders, and lie's to their own people.

Nothing to see here, carry on.........

I think it's terrible the way they treat their people, but we've alot of domestic things that need fixing first so my thoughts will go to that first and a country that has nothing to do with me, 6000 miles away can sort out its own problems.

All governments do that, its really an issue of how often they do it.
Come talk to me when your government feeds the army instead of you. Or when your government kills you for talking bad about them. Or when your only news source is run by the state. Or when you are sent to a labor camp for being disrespectful. Or when your government tells you they are the ultimate power and no one can beat them.

Comparing apples and oranges here bud.

not only that but why get in north korean business..why not africa? or saudi arabia? or china? africa? because they have nothing to benefit us....saudi's ? because they own like 10% of this country and have the oil...china? because we owe them lots of money and this country has become dependent on the cheap chinese shit they export here.

lol reading that list i can already imagine the comparisons your going to get from people here.

as messed up as north korea(NK) is theres nothing we can do about it. even if we had all our problems sorted over here and decided the best thing to do with our military was to free the NK they're allied with china and going there without china's consent would no doubt end up in full blown war. even if china agreed with NK huge standing army you'd end up killing off the majority of the citizens before you got to "free" them

probably the best hope NK for freedom is china even tho their allied and china not wanting to meddle they know all too well what a liability NK is. maybe one day in future their perspective will change from trying to passivise them to more forcefull nudges in right direction
