An Oshawa man faces a cannabis-related charge following a vehicle stop in the City of Kawartha Lakes on Wednesday.

OPP say they conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 35 after observing that a vehicle had only one working headlight.

Police discovered approximately 30 grams of cannabis inside the vehicle. The driver was charged.

Frederick Ward, 55, of Oshawa, was charged with driving a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Act.

The offence carries a $215 fine.

Fucking liberals. Screwing this up from the get go and still fucking it up each day. I’m going to go ahead and say it...I hope conservatives get in and make it illegal again, leave the ounce and 4 plants scrap the pages of technicalities of punishment.

Okay, so now I'm going to go ahead and say it...what alternate reality are you living in? Remember the CONservatives who introduced mandatory minimums for cannabis and tried to strip patients of grow rights? Now you want them to make it illegal, but let you break the law by growing 4 plants and carrying an ounce...how does that work? Julian Fantino said legalization was the same as legalizing murder and Marilyn Gladu is in a frenzy about kids getting hooked on toaster oven weed. They would make it illegal and reinstate the death penalty for possession if they thought they could get away with it. Conservatives hate cannabis - That's better than what we have now?
We all know that we can't have open booze in a car, why is it so hard to do the same with weed? about 6 weeks ago it was illegal to have weed anywhere unless you were a patient. Everything has rules and legal cannabis is no different. I don't have an issue with the rule, I don't adhere to it, but I'm not complaining.

in a bag is not "readily available". if it was in a pipe or rolled in a joint or some other combustible thing, than i would say yes but just in a bag, what are you going to do? eat it?
this "law" will be challenged for sure.
I just watched RCMP on CBC, te only thing that isn’t “readily available” is an OCS container with a uncracked seal. Your own grown cannabis needs to be in the rear of the vehicle.

Honestly these days I don’t care about rec. If it vanished tomorrow I wouldn’t care one bit. Other then that you had a lot of whining and complaining all mixed in together.

You were the one that was blaming whatever was bothering you on the Liberals and imagining a conservative utopia where rec is illegal again. Even if that happened, it would not mean you could carry med weed in the car.
I did zero whining and complaining...I pointed out the flaws in your ideas. Anti-cannabis conservative governments are a major barrier to cannabis common sense.

So check your GD headlights and turn signals. I do it once a week when i check my oil and tire air pressure.

If they have no reason to pull me over why would they exactly?

And the only time I carry any now is to give it to someone else. I will stick to half oz jars for christmas :D

Why is this news worthy? If you get a ticket for open alcohol does it get your name into the paper? I can't remember seeing that in my life. A lot of people would be upset to have that info in the newspaper for what is a ticketing offense...

Propaganda is such a funny thing, eh?

Yeah, they are throwing him under the bus for something that costs less than a speeding ticket. That's a huge invasion of his privacy. He should sue.
