3 ton minisplit can't keep up

I just had my 3 ton mini split hooked up and it won't run 9k watts. I'm air cooling 6 hoods and 3 are adjusta wings. I've heard people claiming 3 ton can do 8k with no air cooling. Did the AC guy fuck up? Even with only 8 lights on it's at 83. It is peak summer, but still.. I feel like it should be doing better. Any thoughts before I upgrade and mark this as a loss?

im interested also, just logged on to find info in mini splits.im running alot less and wondering how many btu i need..ive done the math and it seems 2400 watts of air cooled lights in a 11 x 11 room needs 2 ton..anyone with hands on experience with these units? im under the assumption the o.p needs more btu or all ait cooled hoods.
o.p...are your ballasts in the room also? magnetic or digital?

Only thought I had was that your grow room probably looks a hell of a lot cooler than mine does.

Does not sound like you sized your ac correctly. Rule of thumb for bare bulbs aka adjust a wings are 6k per light. So thats 18k btu there. Then for the air cooled lights the rule of thumb is 4k per light so you have 24k there. Thats over 40k btu's needed in just lights. Not to mention if you have anything else in the room generating heat.

so would a ductless 18000btu inverter cool 4 X 600w aircooled lamps in a 11 x11 room..add 2 oscillating fans..no other heat?..no trying to highjack,just trying to equate problems here..

i bought this 5 weeks ago and its absolutely the greatest ever. 3 ton as well.
How many lights are you doing? I have a vent hooked up to my duct going outside so it sucks from outside, goes across 3 lights getting sucked by a 12 inch inline. Then gets blown across the next 3 being pushed by an 8 inch inline. I was going to try to Y off and suck across from both sides so each row of 3 gets colder air. The 3 lights down the middle are the wings . I'm rocking 14 fans total. Room is 18x20. Air temp outside is about 70s at night lately. Do you think the AC guy fucked up? I can have a guy from aura come out and help I just don't want to waste the extra 300 if it is useless. The garage it is sitting in is hot but my box is insulated extremely well. Please help me figure this out lol it's killing me

did u buy the aura 3 ton? i don't really understand your air cooling system. however if your air cooled properly a 3 ton is great. i looked into the aura systems, the people that had them on display wouldn't even sell it to anybody. same as the ideal air. did the aura cost 3?

yes it should do that. so like for mine i have to keep the thermostat at 73 to maintain 77-80 depending on the outside temp. is your set as low as it can go?

Make sure its not in some economy mode.

Make sure your ventilated lights aren't grabbing your room air and shooting it outside.
snaps i have a question for you. what do u know about the water that these spit systems produce. i mean man thats a lot of water. my wife uses it to water the garden and its doing great, but how safe or not safe is it to use on cannabis plants?

I've used a good deal of condensate however I would note there is a significant slime mold potential here so if running sterile res i suggest 0.5 ml/gal of bleach. Otherwise maintain a healthy trichoderma population for sure.

yes, even 12k window unit would cool that nicely.
ive got 2x 13000 btu single tube standalone a.c. at the lowest setting and the lights vented and still have a time getting it under 80 eazily.they are vented under the room tho in a crawl space, with air exhausted.heat rises so its very inefficient..75 degrees will happen, but its alot of wasted electricity..the split ac will give me more floor space for plants,no more standalones or dehumidifiers, plus efficient as hell..i just wanted to make sure 18k would do the trick..was looking at 24k to be sure..think thats over kill..
btw, window units blow smell out, just like singletube stand alones..dual tubes will a little.ive got all the windows sealed in the house, with boards on the inside of the window frames,so window anything is out of the question, hence the venting of the ac under the room..

I'm thinking the 18k split would be great for your set up. fuck you would be able to throw 2 more lamps in there if u wanted. think u said 11x11. 18k splits r priced really well too.
