i using ufos myself they need to be as close as possible thats the whole point, i keep mine inches away and the growth is robust and buff just make sure they get enough water... just my two cents
Ya, I'll upload pics of where the lights are now. They are about 5-6 inches from the tallest plants. I've got them watering 3 times a day when the lights are on: 6 am, 12 pm, and 6 pm. You aren't supposed to water when the lights are out right? The rockwool cubes that the clones are in hold a lot of water and there isn't much heat so they don't dry out very fast.

RW should never be wet...

DAMP is the word you are looking for...

My cubes with 10" clones weigh 35 to 40 grams when properly damp...

Wet RW is a killer of clones...

This thread might be useful...

A batch of clones in rockwool
Ya, I'm letting the clippings dry out almost completely before I water them. Which means I water them every other day. I'm using a diluted nute mix from the primary reservoir. I was using plain water and the leaves started to turn yellow. As of today all 3 of the clippings have roots poking out the bottom of the rockwool. Next time I'll split the stem of the clippings like that link u sent Gypsy. I didn't do that this time and I think it will reduce the rooting time. I couldn't get pics of the roots because they are still pretty small, but here's some new pics:

looks real nice...

just a word from experience... mine and other user's as well...

nutes actually slow down rooting...

a bunch of us tried it... including Al B. Fuct...

it was proven...

When you want a clone to root... you must make thirsty and hungry...

Keeping it alive, but wanting, will cause it go into overdrive root production.. to seek more food and water...

If you give your clone plenty of water and especially food, it will take it's sweet time rooting... since it's immediate needs are met...

A few leaves will yellow, as the plant uses the nutrients stored within... but that is what you want...

If the plant is having to feed from within.. it will put out roots fast.. to look for food and water...

Just speaking from experience... not saying other ways don't work.. but myself and others have had great success using the same formula...

your garden looks good though...:clap::clap:

Look ok I suppose. Ehh.. not really man. LED lights just dont have the power one needs to grow.
I would perfer CFL way before I would suggest anyone using LED lighting to grow.

Your plants most of them.. like the older ones look like they are really weak. Tall and lanky.
Branches are really long and lanky as well.

Just my opinion. :D

good luck

The clippings showed roots in about 8-9 days. Initially I had them in a bubbler and they were overwatered, but now I just have the clippings in rockwool cubes sitting on top of the hydroton in 3 pots with smaller plants. I wait for them to be almost completely dry before I water them. I'm thinking I can keep them like this for another week or two. Then I'll transplant them into the main system with 4" pots. The only problem I'm thinking is that the clones might not be able to handle the 700 ppm nutrient solution right off the bat. Any suggestions?

I appreciate your concern. I have a CFL lamp on the way for additional lighting. The older plants are not WEAK. I had the lights further away and they were stretching to reach it. Now that I have the lights lower they are getting bushier. If you don't have any positive comments or constructive advice, please keep your opinions to yourself.

Thanks Gypsy for the advice! I'll not worry about the nutrients once the clippings show good roots and are transplanted. :)

Cali have you seen the screw in led setups they have on ebay that would be good for the low down lights. I would like to see this be a complete LED grow, F the haters and non believers this is the way of the future and I am sssssooooooooooo glad to see more and more people doing it. Congrats on a successful grow so far..

And sorry for using the ebay word..
hahahhahaha there is nothing to believe in for these lights. they are probably the worst lighting tech that any one has used for growing weed. they are extremely overpriced and just dont compare to hps. cfls out beat led IMO cause for the price of one ufo you could buy enough cfl to probably triple or quadruple the wattage and power of these lights. ive grown with the ufos and still am but cant defend them any more cause they really arent what ppl think or expect. if i wouldve only gone with hps in the beginning......o the possibilities.....

i'm giving these ufos a go because they have been proven in the past by growers such as yourself. these are the wave of the future and i think my grow will add proof to that fact. there are many benefits to using these lights which have been discussed many many times. i'm not saying that these are enough by themselves to yield as much as hid lights but using ufos and cfls together might be the best option. i'm going to be adding a cfl lamp to the mix and we'll see what the effects are.

More pics below. The pics of the individual plant are of one of the Perpetrators that I topped. All of the green stemmed branches on it are new growth that sprouted from the sides once I topped them.

Dont add the CFL bc then you will not get true results as to the actual worth of the UFOs.

I'm thinking the next step is going to be to cut the plants almost in half and root the clippings in rapid rooter plugs. By the time they are well rooted I'll be in my new place with plenty of room for a VEG/mother room and a flower room. I'll probably use the CFL for the clippings/cloning and mothers. The plants are filling out quite nicely as you can see. They are drinking a lot more now. The reservoir is still very clean so I haven't flushed it in about 15 days. I'll give it another week since the reservoir still looks clean. The aquashield seems to be breaking up the dead material VERY well!. I upped the nutes to 760 ppm tonight. I added 2.5 gallons of distilled water and equal amounts of Floramicro and Floragro as well as more rhizotonic and superthrive. I'll try to scale down the size of the pics to reduce load times. I know this isn't very 56k friendly, but I don't know anyone on dialup....
