Hello everyone, I am starting a smallish stealth grow cabinet and need some advice. I have covered the walls with reflective mylar and have started 15 beautiful seedlings that are under a 2ft 4 bulb T5. I have a fan going on them and a carbon filter hooked up to a 420CFM inline fan which is vented outside and then I have a duct coming in for fresh air intake. I wasnt planning on 100% success from seed so I germinated 15 feminized seeds but all 15 germinated are doing great. My strains are all from greenhouse seeds. Chemdog, Jack Herer, and Kings kush. I have a 400w HPS that will be in the cabinet for flower. The plants are in 1L pots and in Pro-Mix indoor growing medium. I was using Growteks Kick start 1-2-1 but just recently switched over to Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow 3-2-4. I am wondering how many plants I should keep in the cabinet to fully flower, I am looking for the best setup to get the largest yield possible. I have a couple ideas to either keep all 15 and just keep them small or lower it down to 6 or so and grow them bigger since the cabinet is 7ft tall. Also any techniques you may have to increase yeild (trimming change of setup ect.). I also have a bit of a budget for more equipment if needed so any advice is great!

Thanks guys, Happy smokin

there is no way that you can flower all 15 females which were started from seed under only one 400w HPS. even 6 is a lot, because from seed, you need to veg for some time, and they will outgrow your room and you will get very tiny useless buds.

GOOd setup. Heres some pointers for you thow
I would put them in 12/12 now since all 15 will be females they look about a week or 2 old
Also 400w is not a big light but is perfect for the average grower smoker
when flowering and the plants have stretched move the light side to side every couple days
for all around penetration and coverage
I would feed veg food the the first 2 weeks of flowerinf to help yellowing leaves later on in the grow
Then once done feeding veg food wait one week and start feeding bloom food
Other than that damn good job

Oh also the good thing about flowering them now is you will get fat single colas off each plant and there will be
no need to switch to bigger pots only down side would be having to water ever day or 2. Its best to water when the
light goes off

Ive grown 36 small plants under a 600w light so you will be fine as long as you move your hps light every
couple of days its not ideal but it will work and you will still get a great yeild. I had 36 1 gallon pots.

How much did you yield per plant? I'm leaning towards 6 plants or so. I've done 4 in a smaller area with the same light. Also do you think it would be worth it to buy a 600w hps? I'm worried about power because when my 400w goes in it usually flips the breaker every now and then so I'm worried the 600 will be too much. I am moving so I'm hoping the electrical is better in my next place and I don't have this issue. Also any opinions on growing 6-8 smallish plants and then topping them? Keep in mind, looking for largest yield! Thanks

If you only have a 400w in there, you might want to SCRoG or lst your plants. a 400w can't penetrate very deep, so having tall plants wont help you.

Keep a flat, even canopy, and you'll maximize your yield

So do you think I could do all 15 in there doing a SOG method?

Yes you can grow all 15 plants just start the 12/12 as soom as you read this.
You will have nice fat single cola plants.
Also your 400w light is good i would keep it and buy another 400w hps better coverage than 1 600
also the bulbs are cheaper and can be bought at home depot or ace hardware thats what i like about 400s
But if you have the power, space and able to cool a 600w or 1000w they will produce WAY FATTER BUDS and
also penetrate deeper all them popcorn buds you had before will be more solid bigger nugs

Thanks for the great advice, Im gonna check and see how much it will cost for another 400w vs a 600 or even 1000w. I should be able to control the temps with my window AC but if not I guess I'll get a cool tube or something. Any guesses on yield? I know it's hard to say but I'm just looking for a rough estimate
