2x V Kush and 2x LSD..1st time scrog 400w HPS and cfl

Hello hello hellooo

This is my first grow and ive got a couple of Barneys Vannila kush and a couple of their LSD (fem of course). Bought them a few weeks ago, have to admit i had been sucked inot the hype a little bit with all of this cannabis cup malarky. Reading into seems like Barneys Farm is a bit of a joke and shouldnt be having high expectations, especially if its my first grow. Anoyway im giving a shot, theyre germing atm in some jiffy plugs shoots are coming out. As soon as there are pictures worth takin i will do so. Probably upload some pics of my grow setup aswell.

SETUP:
400w HPS (diamond reflector)
150 cfl blue spect
2.5'x2.5'x3.3' (or75x75x100cm)
My very own soil mix
Canna Vegga,Flora and Boost
5" intake fan
4" extractor fan (moves 175m cubed per hour)

I'll be using my cfl for my little seedlings until they get a lil stronger then switch to the 400w. Ive had problems before with the heat in my grow room from my light. Last year i had a couple seedlings and if i left em for even few hours without water they would be shrivelled up, until one day they just died.
I've got a pretty sweet screen to scrog so im planning on lst before they reach the screen then let them fill out the screen on 18/6 before i switch to 12/12.
Anyway batteries is about to go flat, would appreciate some reps and definatly need the help from all you greenfingers and greensmokers

Just some pictures, so u guys can see what's going on? This is there first week and ive got the cfl and 400w on. As you can see in a couple of pics the leaves have yellowed a lil is this coz ive burned them or is a mag or k deficiency?

Yh im pretty sure it was something like that, got some new leaves coming and none of them have any yellowing etc, so hopefully the problem has sorted its self out now that they are a little bit stonger. Good to have you on board Shagster, ill be posting pics like once a week.
peace

Ive got some new pictures, i had a look around and i think i was over watering them so i dint water them yesterday and i havent today. I still spray the, a lil bit with water, is that ok? The leaves are still curling though, can anyone shed any light on why that is?

The soil is probably too hot, and you are probably feeding too early. New plants need no nutrition, so planting it into your mix this early was premature.

Ctrl+F: Search for "pH"... Not found.

So, the lack of pH info also would indicate this could be an issue.

Stop spraying, the plant doesn't need it. That's what roots are for. You need to encourage root production.

Flush the soil very well. Then, allow it to get almost dry. Determine when to water by lifting the planter. Do not water unless it is feather light. A plant that size might need less than 1 ounce of water per day, and that soil will hold plenty of moisture. Most of it will be lost to evaporation, you might not need to water again, after the flush, for 7 to 10 days.

If you are watering any more often than every 3 days you are definitely over watering that plant.

I agree with SC on all points, especially regarding the water pH level and frequency of watering. Make sure that if you're using tap water, to let it sit out for at least a day to 'burn off' the chlorine in it so it's not too alkaline - add pH down to your water if you have to as well. Use pots that allow for drainage and only water until you see then begin to leak out the bottom - then don't water again until the pots are light, with only the wieght of the dry soil. If you have leaves beginning to drop excessively, this is a good sign that you need to water again. A tip: get one of those large plastic basins and fill it with water - let it sit for a day before using it and refill it each time after you're done watering. I have a water-stone in this basin as well to keep the water oxygenated and circulating. The plants love that!

Soryy all havent posted in a while been really busy at uni and stuff but here are some new pictures of my babies. :leaf:.
So coz this is my first grow ive had some problems. These are my main problem and warning to all. By all means give them all the love they need but i've made some rookie mistakes just cause i love em so much and want them to be the best they can be i.e overwatering and over feeding. Ph is good btw they all slightly vary from 6.5-below7.
Only today did i find out the the guidelines given my the nutrient companies is bullshit and you should reject that info fully especially if using soil. Just see how much the plants can take my using a fraction of the nutrient guidelines. Can still see some yellowing on new growth coz i was watering them with nutes too often.

SOOO to the fun parts. Here are my plants they look lovely. Strain note: the LSD seems to be growing alot better then the v.kush. My rooms smelling kinna fruity atm too which is nice. Might have to put in the carbon filter soon. Anywayyy, i just LST'd (low stress training) my plants. Hopefully should get some good results.
.......oh yh some pics:weed:

looking good MMan.

What was the issue with the burned leaves from a few weeks back ? Was it heat or neuts? They seemed to have recovered nicely.

I'm having yellow leaves issues is why I'm asking .

Thanks shagster,
I think it was mainly the fact i had added some natural nutrients to my soil and then fed them with nutrients in the water as well. Even though i used a small fraction of what the bottle advised it still burnt. My tent is pretty hot so i always need the windows open that dint help either. I've stopped with the feeding for a week now and i wont use any more nutrients during veg only a teaspoon of molasses per gallon.

Any updates? Just bought some vk seeds. Also people seem to say take it easy on nutes for the vk, so that might be why your getting slowed growth and burning/curling.

looking good. ill stick around a bit. im doing 15 plants 3 of them are the vanilla kush strain. 14 days in flower. 3rd grow.

i had 1 rut of the three vk's that made it. the other 2 of 5 that were planted turned out retarded. i do not think it is a super stable strain. but, smells damn good right now. :)

happy growing
