hey peeps i gotta Q for ya'll ... currently i am running 2x 150 hps in my vegg cab, thinking about switching up to a pair of the blackstar 240 LED's. the reason is to hopefully maintain temps at 72f to 78f during the summer months. any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks all !! :joint:

a blower for the intake and a passive exhaust, everything was great until i built a larger flower room and hadda move the vegg cab into a different area of the house now temps are running close to 8f higher.

i am happy with the way everything is growing but the temps are going to try to get outta control this summer.

I would get some T5s, hps are much hotter and stretch em a lot more. I dont know much about LEDs personally.

My BS 240 is doing a good job at flowering(and it did veg well)...but it has mainly red spectrums... so if you are looking at a vegging light I would get an actual vegging LED with lots of blue and white diodes

i get very little stretch with the hps during vegg, ya those boys get hot too, but i have ran t5ho vs. my 2x 150hps and they whooped up on the t5ho's

could possibly go with a single blackstar 500 vegg light ... do ya know off the top of your head if the 500 pulls 500w?

the blackstar 500 pulls a little over 300w i've been told, not sure if that's for veg models too or just the flowering. never used them personally but there's a lot of guys here that do and they can probably tell you if 2 of the 240s or 1 of the 500s would work for you.

thanks for the reply's guys ..

a 300w draw will be perfect come summer with the A/C on. honestly i'm thinking it's gonna take a 500 LED to give me the results i get with 2x 150 hps, the cab is 30"d x 48"w x 48"h.

black star is a good led, i'm sure you would be glad you have the 3 watt diods. My first grow i used one led and a dimmable 600 with a hps. The thing is the genitics in my opinion really was the key. I have a set of clones that are about 20ith generation or somthing like that and i ran the 600 dimmed to 400 and the blackstar "Bloom sprectrum " and the plants came out good, but man i had sone sativa from seed and they had soo much keef off it..........it totaly out did the clones. also ran the led on 24-24 and with a good air exchange ennded up recording neer ambiant temps + - 1 degree or somthing like that.
in my opinion 2 is too much if its only for veg or mothering, add some 26 watt cfls and call it a day you could also run a few timres on the lights. i did a 12/ 12 light schedule and subsuted the first 2 hours in the morning with the led so its kinda like a 2-20 and a 10-14 worked out good.

I'm currently vegging a 36" x 72" area under three Blackstar 240 Flowering lights. The plants are extremely dense and bushy. I think two would be fine for an 30" x 48" area.
