Journal update: Day 9 of veg

The seed I had to replant is starting to take off and the two big diesel seedlings are starting to stack nodes and at this point look like they may out-pace the delicious candy seedling. IMG_0253.JPG

If your exhaust is larger ans more powerful then your intake would the intake not be under less load while turned on...???? I'm thinking like a vacuum effect maybe......heat is an issue for me as well when I did my dry run with my tent and my light I was having trouble getting under 78 degrees f and 68% humidity.. and where I live now this time of year is very humid, so I'm planning on buying a dehumidifier asap along with my 6 inch fans and a mr,green pad for c02 emmissions.....it is going to be a fight the 78 degrees will be less once I pipe in my portable actually but with one 4 inch intake port it doesn't do much.....I was thinking of buying the one 6 in line and using it for intake and forcing the air exchange that way but I don't know it will work out.... I can use 2 4 in fans for exhaust but I have an intake filter that's 4 inch and a phrase filter for smell so I'm not sure what to do honestly

To my understanding when the exhaust pulls more air that the intake allows, it creates negative back pressure (I could be wrong there). Also, the concenses I've gathered from my research on LED's when it comes to heat, is that you want your temps to be in the low to mid 80's. The reasoning for this (especially if you're adding co2) is that the LED's don't generate enough infrared energy to increase the leaf temp high enough for optimal co2 absorption, so by increasing the ambient temps in the grow room we're aiding the co2 absorption. IMO it sounds like once you get a good control over the humidity your set up will be rocking!

That's good info thank you.... I'm going to set aside my one 6 inch fan for 2 4 inch in lines...... decided just today.... I'm dry running to test one more time and my boosters alone aren't enough and the 6 on intake and 2 4s on exhaust not good either need better air exchange...... 3 minutes for exchange right now isn't achieve able.........

So how are the babies coming along, always been a fan of the waterfarms..... with little modding they are really great aren't they...... how bug is your space again..... I really like the double r900 idea...... I can't wait to see you harvest... see what a those babies pared with hydro can do.......

Journal update: Day 14 of veg.

Three plants are looking nice and healthy working on their 4th node, and the fourth is sprouting is second set of fan leaves. By then end of next week I'm hoping I'll be able to start my manifold, but we'll see how vigorous their growing. I'm only going for 7 weeks of veg, (one week pretty gallon of soil), so I don't want to set them back too much.

The babies are doing well. Depending on how this grow does I may be switching to hydro next cycle. I'm just a stickler for the flavor profile obtained from good ol' organic medium.

I'm also kicking around ideas of how to both increase the intake with the door closed as well as bring in fresh air to the cooling fans on the lights. My idea is to cut three holes in the bottom of the closet door for a nice passive intake, then attach ducting to the cooling fans and cutting 6 more 4" holes near the top of the door to attach the ducting to.

Journal update: Day 16 of veg

Had couple of days where the temps hit 90 so a couple od the leaves are showing some signs of heat stress but that hasn't slowed these plants down a bit. They've unfolded their fifth nodes and are working on their sixth (with the exception of the replacement seed), which means its getting close to manifold building time!IMG_0266.JPG IMG_0267.JPG IMG_0268.JPG IMG_0269.JPG

yeah I've been out here kinda lurking about as this gains momentum it has been hot here as well I'm running my lights 7-pm to 7-am to beat the heat should harvest mid July the sour'd could take a bit longer

I'm definitely looking forward to the next few weeks as they're starting to take off, and am also thinking of switching up the dark period from 2am - 6am to 3pm - 7pm.

Resilient for sure! I usually top/fim when I go the scrog route, but have never just lopped off all growth but one node before.

Journal update: Day 24 of veg

Just finished clipping the lower fan leaves now that they have enough growth to make due without them. Also, some signs of pre-flowers showing, and it's looking like I've got two males in the bunch, but still too soon to tell. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for pigtails to pop; otherwise, it looks like this grow will be pushed back a few weeks for cloning purposes or I'll end up finding some ready to flower clones.

Here's a couple close-ups of the pre-flowers. Their structure and proximity, the more pointed looking tips hugged close to the stem (female) vs round and protruding (male), seems promising that these will be girls; on the other hand, how quickly they're showing sex has me a bit worried. It's definitely still too early to tell, though.

Journal update: Day 28 of veg

The vegetative growth is doing amazingly! All plants, with the exception of the little one in the back, have reached 8 nodes. I'm thinking that I'm going to go for twelve tops on each plant and 8 on the little one. There's still 3 more weeks of veg to go, so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
