i searched but really couldn't fin what i was looking for. i planted 5 germinated seeds in 5 small coffee cans. they all sprouted.right now my plants are only 3 days old. i have 3 100 watt equivalent cfls. it seems like every post i see people have like 5 or 6 lights.i didnt plan on buying any more lights till its time to flower. my grow room is about 20'' x 31'' and about 5' tall .

will 3 lights be enough for 5 plants?

Well you are trying to grow 5 plants in a space of only "about 20'' x 31'' and about 5' tall ", with only 3 cfl's, and don't plan to buy more lights till flower...... If this is your 2nd grow.. how did your first grow do?

I'll tell you what, if you post pics of the grow room and your set up, I'll tell you exactly what to do to improve it. Also let us know what kind of cfl's you have right now... and just so you know now.... yes you will be buying more.

and hurry cuz your little seedlings are going to need you soon!

well my first plants are not done yet but they look pretty good and should be done id say in a month.. they are under 2 4' fluorescent lights fixtures, 2 lights to a fixture. 1 on top and one on the side. that grow is in my closet, but all thats blocking my grow room is a blanket. as soon as you move the blanket, you can tell theres a grow room their.you cant notice it un till the blanket is moved but a small wind could fuck me over and get me caught. my pops knows but im just dont wanna take any chances. which is why my new grow is in a much smaller space. id love to keep my closet but i dont trust the spot.

my new spot is about 5' tall but if i move my supplies somewhere else i can get another 1 1/2 feet by taking out the shelf. i plan on putting the fluorescent lights on oppisite walls when im done with grow #1.
i didnt plan on getting any lights for a while but fuck it if i need em ill get some.

i forget the exact kelvin number but it was in the 6000 range(my 3 cfl lights)
the 4'' lights, i have 3 cool white, and 2 2700k.
with that being said, what should i get, trying to keep on a low budget, say 25-35 bucks.

what watt cfl would you suggest, and how many.

better yet just a basic shopping list would be great

no pics of the grow room cuz i need a new camera

thanks

With that kind of budget you'll be able to get 8-12 CFL bulbs total (buy 4 packs they're cheaper) Get 1 pack of 6500kelvin 23 or 43 watts for veg and the rest get 2700k 40+watts for flowering. Seriously though even a small closet grow will run you about $150 by the end.

I agree with Untold... how ever...

Your budget is really low, but maybe you can get away with it, sounds like you already have a descent cab.... you should check out my grow..

https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/89440-micro-ebb-flow-now-dwc.html

it should give you a good idea of what you may be getting into, just forget the hydro stuff.

Get to walmart or hardware store and pick up a back of "daylight" cfl's in the highest watt rating you can get. Also 2 packs of "soft white" cfl's

You will be using the daylights for veg along with 3 lights you all ready have, and the soft whites for budding.

You may also want to pick up a couple emergency blankets.. they are made of mylar and perfect for lining your cab with. You should find them in the camping department. You could also just paint the inside of the cab with flat white paint, but the mylar is better.

Next thing to think about is ventilation. 2 small fans pulling air from inside the cab out should be helpful. Another small fan moving air around inside the cab is also helpful.

With any luck you may be able to pick up the lights, mylar and fans all with in your budget.:blsmoke:

Almost forgot the timer.... walmart has a couple cheap timers for like $5
I can't stress enough how important it is to pick up a HEAVY DUTY APPLIANCE TIMER! Seriously theres so many reasons to spend the extra 5 bucks.

Its got a ground
Most come with a Time Delay restart (in case of surges) and a 48 switch control.
You can plug an extension cord into it
You can sleep at night knowing your lights aren't gonna fail and all your pretty ladies turn into dudes!

I agree, but with a budget of about $30 every dollar counts, and it's better to have a cheap timer then no timer. Besides I've used those timers and the last one lasted all season, and still works.. I put it away to use as a back up if I ever need it. I wouldn't use them past 1 season though.. they wear out quick... but then again so do the $10-$15 ones so no matter what timer you get... you should always stay vigilant.

well thats what i figured as a budget quickly,(id still like to spend the least amount of $$ tho). but il just have to part with the money. i wont mind when i start smoking for free.

i have the room painted white now, but il probably get some mylar.
im using a 6'' fan to provide some air flow, and a pc fan for exhaust.
i need a bigger exhauset fan tho. the temp so far gets up to 92 on hot ass days, and about mid 80s on warm days.( i heard 85 is the MAX the room should be)
i have an apartment in my basement that hasent been used in years. would a bathroom exhaust fan work? i can take the fan and probly just leave the light fixture.
i have 2 timers, 1 for the new room, 1 for the old.
the timers are not heavy duty, but i have a 6 way with a surge protector conected to the timer.

with the stuff i have now how much should i expect to pay to get a some decent plants.
also when my others are done should i put them 2 fluorescent fixtures on the side, or just stick to cfls?
thanks

wolfman thats a fresh room !!!!!!

i like the idea of using the 6 ways as a way to mount the bulbs, but how are u adjusting the lights?

Thanks for the complement... and adjusting the lights is easy since it's a very simple set up... I use black nylon string to keep them in place hanging from the top of the cab.. in this pic they are at there lowest setting, but I get them right up against the top... and I have already tested the mylar right next to the lights for 18 hours with no problems.

As for using a bathroom vent fan... Yes that should work fine.. though some of those get pretty noisy.

A couple of tube fixtures vertically on the sides will help allot. 2 on aether side, or 4 one in each wall would be great.... Just remember to use daylight tubes for veg and soft white for budding.

nothing to update. i wasn't at my house for 3 days. first thing i did when i got home was check them they were all fucked. they looked all discolored, and dry looking, they were all dead. and the temp was like 95. i was so pist off.

lately ive been just trying to fine tune the room before i start another grow.
i put an extra coat of paint because it was dark and bleeding through the first coat.
now i have 3 fans. a 6 inch for circulation,
a pc fan blowing in cold air, and a slightly stronger 1 pulling out the hot air.

i went to walmart to get more lights but it didn't say ANYWHERE on the box where on the kelvin scale they were so i came home empty handed. haven't really put any thought into getting more lights since than. ima get more lights at home depot before i start the next grow tho.

ima probably get all the shit i need sometime this week.

wish i had some better updates but hay shit happens i guess
