250W too close to the Plants??

Quick question,...is it possible to have a 250W light too close to the tops of 3 plants? No signs of heat or temp issues but it is about 6.5 inches from the top. What does everyone think?

You are fine. You could even move it closer if you have no heat issues. With 250w you can actually have it as close as 4" from the glass without sun bleaching them. Just make sure the temperature on the plants doesn't go over 80.

Depends on the heat of the bulb. Good ventilation of the HPS, you can get it pretty damn close

well, i would not put them closer. look fine, bit ragged.

Cool Cool, thanks for the replies. First time in a closet under a 250W. Heat is good, might hit 85 or 86 tops. That actually leads me to another qustion.In order to keep temps good I have a standing fan the oscilates but it pretty much stays on the plants the whole damn time and blows them around some. Can that hurt them?? I have to mess w/them quite often with them being in empty coffee cans so I try to move them around daily. But what about to much wind??

Got one cat but that wasn't the issue. Frickin Fan blasted them with PB blaster when they were young and my PH Pen was a whole damn point off for about a week and a half. So yeah they had a rough beginning-LOL.

As long as the fan isn't blowing them over then it is actually helping. Apart from keeping it cool it is actually slightly stressing the branches which is strengthening them.

85 86 is bit much but tolerable.

the thing is, going above 10 000 lumens per sqf, is not really worth the heat trouble.

and id rather have 1 more plant at 7000 lumens than one plant less at 10 000 (less footprint)

No problem. You do wanna try and bring that temperature down a little. If you are not using Co2 then your temp of 86 degrees is a little high. If you can try and get the temp down to 75-78 on the plants. If not you won't hurt them too much. Those are just optimal temps. 80-84 if you are using Co2. Good luck.
