250w HPS question

I need a little help, I have a 150w HPS (built in ballast) and a 125w CFL in a 32x32x63 tent
and i was wondering what would the heat difference be if i swapped them out
and replaced them with a 250w HPS with a wing reflector?

will the 250w HPS put out more heat than the 150w HPS and 125w CFL combined or will it be ok??

Anyway you could bump up to 400 with some exhaust, cool tube or vented hood? Even with a 250W you may still want to run that 125 cfl.

I run a 250 watt hps in a similar sized area with no exhaust, with no problems. I have never used a 150 but I would think the difference in heat would be negligible.

Amps x volts = watt.....so Watt is a watt and yes 250w will run cooler than your previous 275w setup......good luck grower

this is somewhat the exact answer i was looking for

ill have the 250w bulb on the inside of the tent, and the ballast on the outside (right now i have 150w bulb + ballast and a 125w cfl producing heat INSIDE)

So as long as the 250w doesnt out out as much heat as that does i can grow much bigger plants (150w to 250w is the perfect small scale upgrade)

I assume the heat from a 250w hps bulb will be cooler than the heat of a 150w hps bulb + ballast + 125w cfl
provided i keep the 250w ballast outside of the tent?

Yes it will be marginally cooler(25w less to be exact) with the (mag-digital?)ballast in the tent and significantly cooler with it outside of the tent....Stick to indica dom photo strains and train(lst/scrog) you should get 6-8+ zips from a 250w hps. good luck grower

the ballast will be outside the tent so i can live with that, with 150w + 125w my temps are around 78-83 (room ambient temp is around 72ish)
and im only using two 80mm PC fans for cooling atm... BUT, along with this 250w hps upgrade im also gettin two 4" booster fans to upgrade cooling
and air flow aswell
