Is this possible? i have limited space to grow and i was planning on using 250w for veg, 400w for flower. I'm afraid the 400w will be to hot, so i was gonna get a 250w bulb for backup in case the 400w is too hot. this way i can get the 400w hps lamp for a few dollars more and have the option to use it as a 250 or 400, instead of getting the 250 and being stuck with 250w. this way if the 400w bulb is too hot i can replace it with the 250w bulb.

PLEASE reply

Thanks

anyone know for sure?
yes i do know, and no, you must use the proper bulb for the ballast you are using. i believe it has something to do with the ignition charge from the ballast, if you have a 400 just use it and find a way to make it cooler in the area

Yes joker is right you should use the 400w in a 400w. If you decide to use the 250w you will only get 250w out of it & risk burning the bulb out early or possibly exploding or fire.
