If you use a cheap one like from walmart the white ones just for the light IMO its fine.I do and have never had any problems and i use alot bigger light. Also i have used it for many yrs.

Thankyou for sharing your knowledge broseph, rep to ya!
But I was coerced into buying one anyway, last thing I want is my place doing a Cheech & Chong: UP IN SMOKE styleee

Did anyone have any experience of using extension cords with a contactor?
It's been suggested I plug the extension into the mains, and run the contactor from the extension...
Any opinions/advice welcome, rep to be given ;)

Always wise to not use a extension cord with a contactor.I own A HVAC bus. all ac units have contactors.Problem with contactors is the ones thay make some have whats know as a dead man which means 1 legs hot all the time!! If you have 1 that has 2 sets of points over time the points with wear out, causing it not to make or just snap back and forth and not pulling in due to weak holding coil.
