250 hps question

How much space is needed below a 250w HPS? Does it still need a lot of space above the canopy like a 600 or 400?
I have a box 3 foot tall by 3 ft wide, by about 2 ft deep.

Im running all CFL now with about 330 watts...
IF enough room, do you think a 250w HPS would produce better results, id more than likely be using some of the 55 watt CFL i have with it as well to get it back to around 350 watts(space permitting)

If you can get a HPS in there then Go For It You won't believe how much the Girls will love it and your final yield will be Bigger and Better
Just remember though, You will have higher Temp's so will need good ventilation and a good Oscillating Fan.

Edit: I've just thought, You could get a Cool Tube for the HPS Bulb and Suck the Heat straight out of the Cab. That should keep the Temp's right down to acceptable levels.

thanks a lot!! i can definitely use those. ill be using a cool tube w it, im sure it shouldnt be much hotter in the tube than the 8 cfl. I think i have good ventilation, its 4" tjerlund fan. pulls all the heat =out now with the scrubber. theres 2 smaller fans i use cuz of size that work good at moving air around.

bigger btter is what im looking for!
FRom what ive seen i shulds get a good improvement even at 100w less even if i dont use the cfl w it

awesome charts, i think the 250 is the max ill be able to get... the 150 wouldnt penetratew much further than the 55w cfl i have now.
a 400 wouldnt give me hardly any optimal space without being to close.

Whaat kind of yield gains could i expect? 30% or so maybe?

I'm on my First Indoor grow with a 600 Watt Duel Spectrum HPS so i couldn’t tell you what to expect But when i switched from CFL to HPS my 4 Girls just Doubled their size Every Night. It was like growing Outside under the Sun

I want the air hood, but itll take up a couple extra inches up over a cool tube with a reflector.
Having 3 ft high total space, ill need every inch i can get.. luckily i already have a 4 inch elbow sticking in the top of the box, so all ill need is a 6">4" reducer fitting.

If i get it within a week or so, on the next set going in the box ill have used uncle bens topping method for four colas and using a pot over 2x the size of what im using now..
I was running a lot of smaller ones trying a bunch of strains.. Ive got it down to where im comfortable using the space on less and getting a few zips of each instead of the 1/2-1zip.

what size pots do you use?

Ill using 1 gallon next, and one of them imma do a dwc in. I have a pump and stone already, and the nutes i use for soil are flora nova, so their basically dro nutes anyway.
I wanted to start out that way, but changing H2O woulda been a hassle. I think i can manage one without being to bad.

It sound's like you have a better idea of what you are doing than i do lol...
I must admit, I'm Very Happy with my light as the Weather here in the UK is Cold, Windy & Wet.
My Outside Grow last year was Stolen while Curing in the shed. and i need something to smoke & pass the time until my next Outside Grow so i spent a few £$ and started inside so this is all new to me
I don't know if i'm making any sense now as it's 5.40am here so i'm going to hit the sack

i use 7.5 litre and 10 litre inside and 14 litre upwards outside and BioBizz Grow/ Bloom, AN CarboLoad & BigBud. and like you i'm setting up a dwc or bubblephonics of some sort in about 4/5 weeks after my girls are finished flowering. AK47 & Pineapple Chunk
