A freind of mine is going to attemp 25 plants in a 5x5 600w grow tent, im wondering if this is a good choice for maximum yeild? this is what he is claiming.. im thinking they wont have enough room to breath or enouggh light penetration.

Depends how he's planning on growing them.

A 600w only has a usable footprint of 4x4.

If your friend is using seeds to grow with, 25 will quickly over crowd the tent.

If he's using clones its a different story.

Your friend if using clones is talking about SOG style growing. Which involves newly rooted clones being switched to flower straight away. If this is the case he could probably fit around 30 or so small plants with a single stem and just a few buds. Quantity in numbers.

U can put alot more than 25. i would go with a 1k light in a 5x5 but if thats not an option then try to contain all the growth to the center in a 3x3 area

okay so maybe even get a mother from seed and cut clones or get some clones... good to know... but how would this effect yeild? would i still get say 4 oz a plant out of a good strain?

A plant that produces 4 oz is going to be a bigger plant vegged longer typically....one that may take up a 2x2 area on its own. In a SOG or when you pack in more plants you will get less yield per plant but make up for it with more plants. It is kind of like a fish tank, the space will dictate how big they can grow. If you put 10 fish in a 10 gallon tank they will not get as big as putting 4 fish in that same tank.

Agree with this. I was going to say 25 with SOG would be ok. Anything else no!

Clones r good to have if ur runnin numerous plants @ 1 time and want a quick turn around! I don't see u pullin a qp off each one tho especially if there's no veg time! What size pots r u planning on using? Do u plan to veg @ all or just rooted clones straight into flower?

Okay so what is better.... 25 small plants or 9 large plants?
How much experience does your friend have? If he is just getting his feet wet? I would suggest starting smaller and working your way up if that is the case. Get your environment dialed in first.....

Were gonna veg for a bit yes under a metal halide, looking for maximum yeild.. my freind said hes seen this done many times and has done similar things with poorer grow conditions and is dead set that this method is going to be the best bang for buck. I could see a sog with 25 plants being a pain in the ass to prune and water...

My area is 4x5 with massive ceilings and I think that is nutty to start with 25 plants, you need to access these things, care for them etc, there's equipment hanging everywhere. I admire your balls, they must be elephantine.

Take a good look at this page.

Amazingly quick 1g/watt method of growing I have on my to-do list.

https://www.nomercysupply.nl/nomercy/en/node/565

He also has a seedbank in holland that does cheap good genetic seeds ( never tried them myself, but have read good things about them...) although I finally found sea of seeds and they have a wide range of prices for testing this method.

Its 12/12 from seed, can get 30 plants under a 600w in 4'x4' space and if you use the right strain you can harvest up to 7 times a year. That is not why I am interested in this method, I am interested in it because you know sex of plants by 21 days then its flowering time, the plants dont get much lateral branching, alot less than if it was from clones. EDIT: Forgot main reason, theres no vegging time so only propagation light and HPS is needed, 12 hours saves alot of electric also.

Trimming is a piece of piss also and you get good tops off each plant.
