Should seedling's roots be sprayed 24 hours a day, like clones? If not, how often should they be sprayed and for how long?

i also am interested if anyone germs seeds in an aero cloner and if so, do you leave the pump on all the time. Also, do you used rockwool, or something else for Aero-Germing seeds? What type of success have you experienced. seems easy and care free, im always interested in making things easier. thanks, cheers.

I used a recycle timer for 1 min on 5 min off, or 30sec on 3 min off. Seemed to work well for everything from seed to finish.

they will root lots faster if you shut the pump off sometimes.
If you run it constantly then one of two things might happen
1. Plant lives with no roots
2. Plant develops stem rot.

Dont drown your babies! Water tillwet then turn pump off till dry. The timing just depends on exact setup.

Philip is right-----15 seconds on, fifteen minutes off.

Lots of other reasons for doing that

you really need a timer spraying 24 hours a day is only going to kill your plants in the end you need adjustable timer that you can change times as your plants change there needs your plants will tell you what they want.

Umm thats odd. I spray my plants 24/7 and have NEVER lost a plant due to stem rot or no roots growing. I guess it would depend on what medium you plan to put these plant in once they are rooted. Spraying them 24/7 and then putting them in a DWC setup has worked perfect for me for some 8 years....

Ahh excuse me he says hes going for aeroponics. So yes if you are spraying at +60psi of pressure and can generate sub 50micron water droplets then yes 15seconds on and 15mins off. If you are however not using the kind of caliber equipment that can produce a true aeroponic environment then all this is nonsense

i recently started growing and went from a aero/dwc hybrid to a more LP aero with no standing water in my root chambers and im running sprayers 24/7 with great results! healthy white long dense roots! but i plan on moving to HPA in the future, its much much more efficient with out loads of water for a big rez.

the other reason to not run pumps 24/7, most are mag driven and will strip iron from the water. also, the pumps are expensive and wear out the more you use them.

  • don't waste money and buy a regular timer!
it is possible to easily modify it by just removing one gear so the steps are 1minute instead of 15min, just find it on youtube (DIY repeat timer), if your timer looks different than the one on a video - don't worry, it most probably have the same gear set inside
