24/7 lighting for the first two weeks?

This is going to be my first grow and I currently have a stealth hydroponics set up with two dual spectrum 85 w bulbs. I have the set up in my closet and I was reading one of the tutorials and it suggested that I run my plants 24/7 for the veg cycle then switch to 12/12 for flowering. Is this the best for my plants or should I do a 18/6 lighting cycle. I read something about 18/6 being better because it gives the plants a rest. So far this is my first day with the lights on...Any Suggestions? I'll eventually put pictures up if anyone cares to see them

Equal opinions on both sides of that one. I have never been convinced that less light was good in veg so I do 24/7.

I guess that means i'm going to be growing 24/7 for 5 weeks then switch over to 12/12 for flowering. I also need to construct some kind of carbon filter because it's in my closet and I don't want my dad to find out.

go with 18-6.
or at least 20-4.
plants go through photosynthesis (energy creation) during the day and then actually expend the energy during dark hours.
if you take away their darkness, they can only do minimal growing while they are going through photosynthesis.
i suppose if you want to keep them smaller, stick with 24-0.
i guarantee that if you switch over to 18-6, you will see a huge explosion in growth rates.

it's never good to mess with mother nature.
i trick my plants a little, but taking away their dark cycle is just cruel.

I guess I can't speak from experience because I've never done anything other than 24/7 in veg. But I can say I don't get "minimal growing." There are a lot of growers on RIU vegging 24/7, about as many who don't. If the answer were as clear as you say, there wouldn't be two sides.

thanks for the input i'm going to stick with 24/7 i think for this grow. I'll probably end up trying 18/6 next grow to see how they differ. But I am soon going to be coming into a odor situation. Any suggestions on something easy to get rid of the smell. I was thinking of a jug of pinesole with holes poked into the bottle in front of a fan. But then again i've also heard good and bad things about carbon filters.
