24/0 seedling?

Hi, working on my first grow here and was wondering if it would be alright to run a 24/0 light schedule on my seedlings, they just popped out of soil yesterday and was wondering if i should do a 24/0 light schedule until flower, or maybe even just a week or so, or should i put them on 18/6 tomorrow?

Any help is appreciated, Thank You

I do exactly the same thing as Jesus, except I flip to 18/6 at 12 inches, and 12/12 at 16 inches. Seedlings don't mind the constant light in the slightest. I think 18/6 the whole time is acceptable though, and the 25% decrease in light energy doesn't equate to 25% less growth. Those extra 6 hours of light don't really add up to much, but it does make it easy to manage young plants without a timer.

what kind of lighting are you using and what do you plan to use to flower with? that is very important when choosing a light cycle imo.
if your using cfls and flowering with cfls i would advise 24/0 till flower, the plants growth during the dark period tends to be more stretching growth while keeping them on 24/0 keeps them shorter and bushier(and if using cfls cost is not as much of an issue and the extra 6 hours of light really does help) and with cfls you want compact bushy plants , if you are using a hps for flowering after maybe 2-3 weeks of 24/0 flip to 18/6 and let them stretch out a bit(i usually top them or lst them at this point as well so its the lower branches that stretch up towards the lights and get a chance to catch up to the other colas) since the light from the hps retains its usefullness after traveling away from the bulb much better than cfls and therefore taller/more stretchy plants are easier to fully light with the hps.
Those are my thoughts on the matter based on my experience, something different may end up being better for you and your growing setup and goals.

yeah I keep it at 24/0 as well but I have another question. If you go from 24/0 to 12/12 in one day, how bad will the plant suffer?

:) well I did it once and only problem is I got a very small yield. But I blame that on the bag seed and genetics. Still 24/0 is heaven for the babies...

I run on 24/0 from seed right through and then go straight to 12/12,never had a problem in the slightest....never worried about changing to 18/6 before, dont see the point,it doesnt imitate nature in any way whatsoever,so why complicate a simple system?
YOU fool the plant into flower there is no secret behind it...good luck

I'm sorry but... what? Where I live there are 18 hour days and 6 hour nights. So... WTF are you even talking about dude? That light schedule most obviously imitates nature. 24/0 doesn't.
As someone who hasn't used any other method I don't understand how you could be so certain that having a light schedule makes things "complicated."

As I've stated before, the extra 25% energy does not equate to 25% larger plants. My plants grown on 18/6 are as big as my plants grown on 24/0 except the energy bill on my 18/6 is about 75% of my 24/0 bill.

So, with growth being equal, and power being extra, I think the choice becomes pretty clear. 24/0 for seedling life then to 18/6 for vegetative life before 12/12 for flowering (I actually run more like 11:52/12:08 ).

The only reason I ever give night period is to save a little cost, or if I have clones rooting, I feel like roots develop better in dark, which may not be totally true. But for seedlings, I do go 24 in hopes of avoiding any early stretching that may occur, when I get the 1st few leaf sets I drop it down to 18/6.

Maybe this will help you break down all those big words I used.

If you paid attention you would notice at the end of what i said, what i said was You control the plants cycle, you have grow 24/0 and flower 12/12.The plant dont know shit you tell it to grow/veg you tell it to flower 12/12 it flowers why give the plant rest if it doesnt need it???Have you seen how much a plant grows in 8 hrs???6 hrs of growth is alot ..try it before you put you info in.

Again, I am failing to understand what you are fucking saying. I give up. Sorry. Let's just pretend we never started conversing. I apologize. I didn't realize I was poking fun at an illiterate. You have my apologies.

The thing is your plants will only use as much as it needs, the best way to grow indoors is to mimic nature as much as possible. 24hrs light is a great way to burn out bulbs, wear out ballists and waste money on the electric bill./ Your bulbs will last longer if you give them dark periods. Ask around and dig through the BS and you will see that most will tell you not to use 24hr light.

I do it(5-7 day clones into 12/12hr), and as long as the plant has a good root they have no problem at all. I stopped using 18/6hr long time ago. Sorry Jesus.
